Since you said brunch and I was just reading a NY magazine that was talking about new restaurants...
This one caught my eye and it sounds fairly close to the park
"Ouest" on the Upper West side 2315 Broadway
area. Then there's Balthazar at 80 Spring St.and then August in west Village is supposed to be really good for breakfast but bit further.
Cafe 202 is supposed to be the "best" of Manhattan for brunch but I have not been there and it is further down (not right in the CP area). I have heard Balthzar is really good from friends and it is also published but I didn't know they served brunch. Might want to double check.

Central Park is a huge area - you should specify which part of the park you are interested in. Sarabeth's, 40 Central Park South between Fifth and Sixth Avenue serves a great brunch

Also the Sarabeth's on Amsterdam and 80th

Norma's in the Parker-Meridian Hotel, 57th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenue - food is fabulous!

in the 25ish area? 25 St? or $25. CP starts at 59th st. The upper eastside is really expensive so you might want to stick to the westside.restaurants come and go so quickly I couldn't give you a name but in Mid-town arount 47 st is Restaurant Row. on the West side.

Le Pain Quotidien is a really nice place...quaint and the breakfast items are delicious; the hot chocolate is superb, too.
