A bit too coincidental?

Question

Have you ever marveled at how some creatures defend themselves from predators? Take a species of insect known as the Phyllium for example. It uses a very convincing form of camoflauge to protect itself. http://www.bugsincyberspace.com/phyllium_giganteum.html

As a matter of fact it's resemblance to a leaf is downright uncanny. In my opinion too coincidental to have happened by chance or "evolutionary mutations". To me it looks like it was designed.

LOL I love the mutation one.. Do you realize that there is no account of a mutation that actually has been beneficial. The only one that happens to have helped is sickle cell, happens to keep people from bieng as susceptable to malaria... However it does have other things which are pretty bad about it. Micro evolution also known as variance in species is NOT argued against by creationists. We reallize that if you keep breeding big dogs, your gonna get bigger dogs. Yes if there is a red moth and a moth the color of tree bark, the ones the color of tree bark are going to survive. However, this is not what is going on here. Do you really think that the Phylliums biological make up realized that it should reconfigure itself to that of a leaf?? Or that there happened to be a Phyllium that just happened to mutate the right way to where it looked exactly like a tree leaf?? Do you know how rare just one mutation is.. And since throughout science we have never observed one beneficial mutation.... What are the chances that everything happened to mutate "correctly" (by the way this was more directed at some of the answers to the original question than it was towards the original question) I hope you have to time to do some real research, it is rather eye opening.... For example did you know that the earth moves five feet away from the sun every year.... If the earth was even two million years old it would have had to start so close to the sun it wouldnt exist... Before the space shuttle landed on the moon they were worried because at the rate that dust accumulates on things it should have been a few hundred feet deep if the earth was billions of years old. However it was only a few inches deep consistent with the earth being around 6 to 10 thousand years old... This does not prove the earths age... Its just evidence..

Humm.. let me give u an example of evolution at work

take for example the white moth. This white moth lived in Europe before the industrial revolution. But to survive, this moth had to hide. They best way to survive was to camouflage its self in white tree bark. What happened after the industrial revolution was that the white tree barks began to turn dark due to all of the fumes that were emited from the factories. So through evolution the white moth started to change to a darker moth eventually becoming black, which allowed this moth to camouflage its self in the dark tree bark

If the Trees that the Phyllium live on begin to change color for whatever reason, then the this little critter (thanks to evolution) will also change color.

Evolution is survival and adaptation NOT mutation. mutations are relative, but not enveloped into the theory of evolution.

I agree....the world is just too perfect and its creatures too magnificent for it ALL to be by accident. The earth just the right size, just the right distance from the sun thats just the right size and temp, earth spinning at just the right speed, at the perfect tilt....its all too much for it to be by accident. to you statisticians out there...whats the mathematical odds of all this happening out of pure caos?....statistically impossible I would guess.

The only reason they are still around is because they developed that camaflague while other variations did not and were eaten. Anyone who understands the mutation/natural selection aspects of evolution would not be confused.

As I said before, your opinion does not count as evidence for creationism. The only thing that aids your claim is the fact that they have been around for at least 47 million years, but then that probably throws off the 6,000 year old Earth belief.

It's just that as time passes, everything molds itself to fit this world. Because they need protection from their preys, bugs slowly evolve over time to give them that protection. Nature is just such a wondrous thing; there's nothing like it.
