I would talk to your doctor and/or a physical therapist about appropriate exercises.

Do you follow up with an Orthopedic surgeon or Neuro surgeon? My son at about the same age was diagnosed the samething turned out instead of his back it was his legs he was going through a growth spurt and one leg was longer than the other. But exercise as in building up your chest may help straighten your spine at the sametime like bench presses and back muscular strengthening exercises.I have 3 buldging discs in my neck and I exercised per a P.T. and my M.D. My M.D. was worried about a rear ended accident in my car and snapping my neck well it happened I was rear ended and the neck held up but the sealt belt did most the damage. Sure you will feel pain but you maybe helping yourself at the sametime.

Have you considered Chiropractic Care? It would take a while, but one can help put your spine right.
I have scoliosis! And yes it is painful at times, sometimes worse than other times. I'm 50 now! I didn't know about chiropractic care until a few yrs. ago. It has helped some! With young people it would do more good and stay longer!

Depending on what kind of exercise you do your back might (but doesn't have to) start growing unproportionally. So what you need to do is get some advises on what kind of exercises you could do so this doesn't happen. And also depending on how your back muscles are build now your back might hurt every now and than. But that's only gonna happen when you exercise muscles that you didn't or don't use that often.
Good luck

If you have a doctor, ask him to refer you to a physical therapist who can teach you to do exercises without hurting your back. He may even be able to show you exercises that will make your scoliosis less obvious.
