In a large mixing bowl, measure 6 cups of flour.
Add 3 tablespoons baking powder.
Add 1 tablespoon salt.
Either sift together or mix with a wire whisk until well combined.
Can be stored in airtight container for months.
For two cups of flour, you'll need one tablespoon of baking powder and one teaspoon salt.

YES. for each cup of plain flour add 2 heaped teaspoons of baking powder.mix in well... and just continue on as the recipe states. I bake all the time, and often run out of S/R flour and just make my own so I don't need to rush out to the shops, and stop my creative urge!!!

Yes, thats what they used to do in the olden days but decided just to make it simpler and make it self raising off the shelf. The baking powder should have details of how much for the amount of flour you are using.

Yes, you can. The amount to use should be on the container.
I never buy self raising flour, only plain, when I make cakes and cookies, scones etc. I add baking powder.

If you get a decent drum of baking powder it will tell you how much to use! (i.e. in which proportion)
