through genes ? I have problems with my teeth. i brush all the time and floss. but when my daughters teeth were comming in hre gums turned black. then it went back to normal. now shes 3 and brushes 3 times a day, doesnt eat too much sugar. (only what she sneaks) and she has cavities. At age 3 i think there is something more going on.

no drugs at all. and she eats well, she loves her vegies :) (im so proud of that fact none of my children are pickey eaters)
also i used to have an eating disorder that caused my teeth to go bad. never drugs.

My dentist told me that genetics can play a factor in some types of dental diseases.

no not really some time the shape can
part of the family like buck teeth
but, it basicaly depends on how we look after our teeth from child hood and our generaly health
so if your teeth are bad and your pregnant
dont worry the old wives tale saying
every time you have a baby you lose a tooth
due the fact the baby takes the goodness out of us not true I dont think so

I may have missed the point, but you are taking your daughter to the dentist, right?
By 1 year old, children need to have had their first visit. Your dentist can answer questions about what is going on with your daughter much better than we can do for you online.

The mother's nutrition can affect the child's teeth. She needs to eat a balanced diet with plenty of calcium and vit D.

I believe they get dental problems more through improper nutrition also certain drugs cross the placental barrier causing problems.

of course it can be hereditary but it can come from father too.
