Maybe we have a God gene which makes us at least ask the question. I think the majority do believe in God, and I do think that many so -called athiests call themselves that as a kind of self-defence. Perhaps they were damaged in some way by religion and so feel they have to reject the idea of God. Some atheiest just can't get into the whole idea of there being anything other than what they can see and touch. They have to have everything explained, like they need to feel in control or something(?) I think your question is interesting and it would be great if there was a world wide referendum and we all voted wouldn't it?

Yes, but mostly vague and confusing.
We better read again and again the Holy Books, which are now available on the Internet, to get a clearer and more accurate concept about God and His creation.
The God taught in the monotheistic religions, as written in the Holy Books, is the One True God, Who creates and sustains all worlds and all creatures visible and invisible. He is not dependent on anything, but all depend on Him. With the attainment of the knowledge and love of God, mankind will understand the Divine Unity and attain the unity of religion and unity of the world, resulting in an ever-advancing civilization for the whole human race.

Whether we believe in God or not it does not matter. The reality does not change just because someone does not believe in it.
For example if I say I dont believe in fire and put my hand in it - the fire will not spare me - just because I dont believe in fire.
The same way we can undesrtand that God has to be there. Without Him we would not have got what we are getting - the air we breathe, the water we drink, the beautiful creatures. Can we accept that all this has happenned by accident.
No!! Someone has designed and created it - and that is God.
The atheists only pretend that they dont believe in God - they talk about God the most.
There can be different names of God but He has to be one - or else there would be so much chaos.
This is explained beautifully in the most ancient Scriptures of Vedic Culture. Write to me to know more.

Certainly not in the same ways... if you define 'God' as your generic Omnipresent entity, then... perhaps the majority of the world that is spiritual does... but the majority of the world is relative talk... we don't even know how many people are on this planet... the polls census records are innacurate...
