Because they are not pack animals, they decide important issues for themselves...such as where they will live.
My sister just had the experience of her neighbor's cat moving in; the cat decided he likes my sister's place better. He came in through the cat door, introduced himself to my sister's cats, and made himself at home.
She returned the cat many times, of course, but he would simply come back in through the cat door, come up the stairs, and get on the bed along with the other cats (who accept him).
The neighbor has finally given up trying to re-claim the kitty, and the sister has finally acknowledged that there is nothing she can do.
My sister is now shared by four cats...whether she likes it or not!

Cats are so much better than other animals:
You dont have to walk them
They clean themselves
They occupy themself unlike dogs who are always on top of you.
They are comforting
Kittens are adorable and stay that way when they grow up
vs: a lets say boxer puppie who is adorable when little and ugly when it grow up

Their beautiful, mysterious, loving, and are more like people than people who don't like cats will admit. They basically do what they want when they want and don't really care who likes it. LOL. Their purring can soothe you to sleep and they can keep you warm on a cold winter's night.

They're beautiful, calm, misunderstood, loving....
I read somewhere that a cat's purr is just the right frequency to promote bone marrow growth...
They're magical, mystical creatures. And they're cuddly too!

That maybe your opion but not all feel that way. Cats are very able to care for them selves for along peroid of time if thier litter is taken care of and have water. But they can also be very dangerios even a house cat. My son had his house cat bite him and he was put in the hospital do to a cat infection it is worse then a persons bite.

When their happy they purr, when their mad they hiss and claw,when ther lazy they do not care what anyone thinks, they play no mind games, you always know what to expect, to bad more humans weren't like cats.
