I am a nurse and the longer the fat is there the likelihood of neovascularization increases- that is new blood vessels grow into the fat- which makes liposuction more dangerous- so it is better to lose the fat- the body will adapt to a point- for instance in a pregnant woman the blood volume doubles- I am a nurse- and love it!! Yes, they do have more blood to supply the extra tissue they have, but the answerer who stated that this is the reason for putting extra strain on the heart is misguided. Having extra blood is an adaptation seen in many areas, including pregnancy, and elite endurance athletes. The extra blood is not what causes the extra strain on the heart, it's the hardening of the arteries that does that.
