I have taken Lithium for 10 years. It works wonders for me.

If you just started taking it, it takes a while to build up in your system. Initally you might experience symptoms such as dizziness, tremor in hands, extreme thirst, and peeing alot. These symptoms will go away after a while.

If you continue to experience symptoms, you might have Lithium toxicity. But those symptoms are usually severe. Your doctor should be doing blood tests on you to make sure your lithium level is in the right range.

Give it time. It takes awhile. If you are concerned talk with your doctor.

Tell your doctor immediately because it can be caused by a toxicity to it in your blood and your doctor is going to want to order blood work on you to check and see. My doctor wanted to try me on it to see how it would work for me, and so she started me out on it, and I was only able to take one pill before I actually developed a toxicity to it. Just one pill, and I had to go to the emergency room and had my blood filtered. Usually if the lithium doesn't work for you, the next one your doc will try is Depekote unless that was what they tried first and then went to lithium, but most definitely call your doctor and tell him/her immediately. Good luck.

I am taking lithium now twice a day it does work for me but it is different for each person. when it works for one person it may not work the same for another person, so if it isn't working for you let your doctor know right away and maybe he/she can put you on some thing else.

I know for about the first month or two I felt quite rough on lithium, but it kind of wore off as my body got used to it.

Please tell the doctor about this symptom. Especially because you are one more than one medication, it's important for someone to know about everything before giving you advice. Don't change anything about your medications unless your doctor recommends it.
