Yes, I've taken it and even though they can increase the dosage, don't. It can be addictive. Also, my mother took it and so did my aunt and they were the only two in the family with dimentia. So, I don't like it...and I didn't like the way I felt.
So, when I got the anxiety attacks, I would force myself to sit down in one spot, even though I wanted to run around the house tearing out my hair, feeling like I was dying. I had to literally talk to myself in reassurance that I wasn't going to let this get the better of me.
I would get a tall glass of orange juice and drink it. Then I would talk myself out of the anxiety attack. I had to. I was spending so much time in the ER I hated my life. And believe it or not, I started going to see a Chiropractor and I haven't taken anything since. No, I didn't have the bi-polar disorder, just the severe anxiety attacks, but those I had to learn to mentally control.
So, just be careful with 'sript meds. Ask, the doc. He will lie and tell you that Xanax is non habit forming, blah, blah, blah...you know, the same old routine, but it is and long term use is not good. Take care of yourself and take a look at this website. Maybe you can incorporate what you take with this.

2mg is the maximum pill made but your doseage can obviously be adjusted by your doctor by increasing the frequency in which you take them.
Most doctors do not like to go above 2mgs because you can and likely will become addicted to Xanax at even lower doses but once you hit 4mgs a day taking it regularly for any length of time, you are not only all but guaranteed physical addiction, you also run the risk of seizures when you come off of them and believe me, the doctors seem nice now but they will wake up one day and say, "Time to taper" and then it will get very, very, very ugly.
If you are still experiencing panic attacks with 2mgs a day, talk to him about adding something like Paxil. But I'm not a doctor by any means. Just an experienced patient.

well they really did not trust me much with any of it, but yes you can get it in a lot higher dozes then that . You should talk to your doctor, and let him decide that though, cause he may want to put you on something else instead. I enjoyed it when i took it, but it did not last long before having to take larger dozes.

Ask the doctor who prescribed the medication for you. Your doctor knows your full medical history, so he/she can give better advice than people here on Yahoo! Answers.
