I applaud your goal in the name of science, but if you drink coffee, then how will you know whether it was the caffeine or the lack of sleep (or the combination of the two) that contributed to your hallucinations. However, if you just want to trip out, then go right ahead. :)

If you want to hallucinate, eat some shrooms or do some acid. Others might disagree but that is WAY more healthy for you!

I would imagine you could drink coffee

Why would you want to do that? I don't think I understand. Are you speaking of 'an altered state of consciousness?', which is actually better. It's like lucid dreaming. It's a higher consciousness, which is much safer.

It's a grey area between being awake and falling asleep. No, don't drink coffee...just let yourself relax and listen to a tape or CD that has soft sounds of the ocean...or a gentle rain.
