Ever since I was little I get an uneasy, some what fearful feeling, when told of stories in the bible or when going to church. When thinking of god I never had peaceful feelings or feelings of contentment. Now that I am an adult and have explored other religions I have found that inner peace I craved as a child. I am wondering if anyone else has had these same feelings when it comes to Christianity and would you allow Christianity to be pushed on your children possibly giving them those same uneasy, fearful, feelings?

I am not an atheist, but I am not a Christian either. I do not believe in a god. I have found other ways to feed my spirituality.

yes, but i don't understand why. after all, its not like christianity was responsible for two thousand years of crusades, inquisitions, pogroms, witch-burnings, and holocausts, right?

It does give me an uneasy feeling.

I will not and have not pushed the religion of Christianity upon my children. A Bible is readily accessible to my children and christian churches are within walking distance from our home. I do not prevent anyone from choosing a religious path.

Personally....I have not found my home in a Christian church....at least not yet.

Christianity doesn't make mE feel uneasy,...Christians do. i would be highly upset if my right as a parent to teach my children about God in my home was violated, and it was pushed on them to worship like Christians and forced to pray to a demi-god in the school system. I'm all for separation of church and state

Any religion or philosophy that places faith and belief ahead of logic and evidence makes me feel uneasy, like I am being deceived, exploited or mislead. If god is as smart as Christian think god is, then why would god want to be known through faith instead of rationality and scientific inquiry?

It's not the belief itself that makes me uneasy. It's the impassioned believers that I truly fear.

I never feared the witches, but the witchhunters, I fear them very much, for you never know who they will turn on next. And irrational as they may be, they do call the shots most of the time.

All religion gives me a very uneasy feeling because of it's bloody history, that it's followers refuse to acknowledge.

The Christian religion is not for the timid. It's a demanding system of belief that fundamentally turns all life upside down, for its adherants and for the world.

I don't follow systems of belief based on my feelings, as I have found that my feelings can be altered quite easily based on how hungry I am, whether or not I have recently had sex, lack of sleep, or a bad day at the office.

The question before you is whether that belief system is TRUE, not "does this make me feel good".

Cheers!

P.S. "Fearing God" used to mean respecting Him (Her or It, as you will). A "God Fearing" man or woman described someone whose actions were based on their respect of God, not on social convention, profit, or "feelings". Just a thought...

exceptionally in what they are calling 'mega church homes". You pass in there and you ought to purchase something. Water, plates with jesus on it, 15 categories/sizes/colorings of bibles... and how the preachers communicate sound quickly out of a commercial for Ginsu Knives.

Yes. The idea of a God who drowns and slaughters millions, commands his followers to kidnap, enslave, torture, rape, abort, and kill people, and who sends his own son to be beaten and executed so to appease himself is SICKENING to me. I would NEVER worship the Christian God, but others are free to do so if all that turns them on.

It is not christianity but some christians who give me the creep with their 'holier than thou' attitude. They are free to shout about hell and hellfire and torments and tortures for the infidels.

I dislike christianity. They say it is a holy religion, but I don't see anything holy in hating all dragons just because the bible refered Satan to a dragon. For all I know, dragons could be extinct because of the rise in christianity.
