I have read the bible many times from leaf to leaf trying to find a reference. It is mentioned that Moses crossed the sea, with no indication to which sea. In the Hebrow copy, it is mentioned that he crossed the "Yem suf" which means the REED SEA.

Reed Sea suggests that what Moses crossed was kind of a shallow body of water where reed grow.. kind of a lake (fresh water). Could that have been lake Manzalah in lower Egypt?

Please, only unbiased people who seek nothing but the truth, regardless how religious or non-religious they are, should answer the question. No offence intended for any believer. Thank you.

The "Red Sea" encompasses several seas, but not "the Sea of Reeds". This is part of the Mediteranean Sea, and is close to the road (or way) to Philistia (Philistines), which God wanted them to stay away from.
The actual crossing is now believed by some to have happened at the Gulf of Aqaba. On the other side of the Gulf is what is now believed to be the real Mt Sinia. Remains of the chariot wheels, skeletons, etc have been found on the seabed.

The whole "sea of reeds" business is why people try to invalidate The Red Sea. The problem is, a gentle, shallow body of water is NOT going to drown Pharaohs army (horse, chariot and rider) after the Hebrews pass through.

The Hebrews started in Egypt and ended in Palestine...What bodies of water are available between those two points that, if restrained by some weird, unexplainable, physical phenomena (*cough* MIRACLE *cough*), could accomplish the wholesale destruction of the military might of the country of Egypt?

Good luck to you in your search for knowledge!

15 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. 16 Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. 17 I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. 18 The Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen."

19 Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel's army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, 20 coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.

21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, 22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.
this is from an NIV bible,.....however i suggest if you havent already got one to get a chumach stones has an excellent one if you dont read hebrew
