I'd definitely go with braces unless you have really short roots. It looks better, and feels better in the end. With braces, your teeth will look a lot better overall and maintain it's occlusion. Nothing is permanently bonded to your teeth, and you won't have to worry about matching your original tooth/teeth color. You may feel a little discomfort from the braces, but you'll adjust. Lumineers are more patient specific. I think it would be more ideal for someone with tooth gaps that already have straight teeth. Also, I'd be afraid if for the bonding beneath the veneer to come decayed, which in turn may decay your tooth and cause a cavity. If you get braces, just remember to wear your retainer.
Braces - You'll need to bond brackets and possible bands to your teeth. Then you'll need to get check-ups about every four weeks. There's also the possibility that you may need to wear an appliance or headgear depending on the circumstances of your teeth. After the length of your braces, you will need to wear a retainer for at least about a year.
Lumineers - From what I understand, you'll need to take impressions of your teeth, and it will be sent out to a lab that will design the lumineer(s). A contact-lens thin veneer will be positioned and bonded to your teeth by a (cosmetic) dentist. If done correctly and maintained well, it should last about 20 years.
Hope this helped....good luck on your choice

RE:
Braces vs. Lumineers?
I am deciding whether or not to get braces or go with lumineers. If anyone has any opinion on this subject, I would really appreciate it. I would like to know price, and what goes into getting either procedure done.

I had braces for just over two years and now my teeth are beautiful. I had very crooked teeth that looked horrible until I finally worked up the courage to get them (I hate the thought of anything painful and anything to do with dentistry). Mine cost $4000 AUS that included check ups every 4 weeks whilst I had my braces, then 6 weeks when I had my plates and now it has been a few years since I had them removed and they still give me 12 monthly check ups. There is some discomfort in the first couple of days due to the pressure and sometimes after they tighten the wires but after a while you wont even notice them.

I HAD A SIMILAR DECISION TO MAKE WHILE ATTENDING DENTAL SCHOOL. I CHOSE BRACES.
WHY?
THERE WOULD BE NO ALTERATION IN ANY WAY TO MY TEETH. THERE WOULD NOT BE ANY POTENTIAL FOR ANYTHING CRACKING OFF OR BREAKING, AS CAN HAPPEN WHEN VENEERS ARE BONDED TO THE TEETH.
A CLASSMATE DECIDED TO HAVE CROWNS FOR SOME FRONT TEETH. LOOKING AT HOW HIS CASE TURNED OUT, IT THANKED MY LUCKY STARS I CHOSE BRACES.

i have braces and have had them for just over 2 years.
it cost me $5000 for them.
the procedure is pretty simple to get them on but you have to return about every 6 - 8 weeks for them to check your progress, tightening change of bands/wire etc
braces are pretty painless but they will hurt for a couple of days when you get them on and after tightening because your teeth are moving.
