Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

I have searched using lots of different sites, the cheapest I can wrangle is AUD$1800 or there abouts...

Any clues?

you may want to try zuji, i found one cost around AUD$1500 travels around march or call STA Travel for a quote sometimes they have discounts as well (especially for students) cheers

Check with Qantas Airlines and British Airways. Also, you can check with airlines that have hubs near the UK and stop over which will make it cheaper. I advise for you to check www.staralliance.com because you can do a search and it will combine check all of the airlines wihtin the alliance and make some flights for you. Happy travels!!! (Most flights will be on Singapore Airlines or Thai Airways stopping in their respective countries.)
