I don't think you want to yet - vistar is very slow and only in beta at the moment - I've heard that its so full of spyware and virus detectors that it can barely run a normal program. Best waiting till they fix the bugs.

I am pretty sure there are NO free upgrades for any Microsoft products. The question is, can you upgrade to Windows Vista from XP Home edition? I am not sure if they will allow that as an upgrade path. You might have to do a total install of the Vista OS.

1) you don't want it, even if it was free. It is still buggy, and needs a pretty good computer to run.
2) Why would they give it away free? it will cost MONEY.
An "Express Upgrade" program is available for providing free or low-cost upgrades for people who purchase computers with Windows XP between October 26, 2006 and March 15, 2007 The precise costs vary between OEM manufacturers; Dell, for example, will charge $25 USD plus applicable taxes/fees to be paid on delivery to upgrade Windows XP Professional to Windows Vista Business and Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to Windows Vista Home Premium, while upgrades from Windows XP Home to Windows Vista Home Basic will cost $45 USD plus $25USD plus applicable taxes/fees to be paid on delivery.

Windows Vista isn't out yet. And unless your copy of Windows XP Home Edition has a coupon that lets you upgrade to Windows Vista (when it comes out) for free, you're going to have to buy Windows Vista to upgrade. Or download, but that's illegal.

windows vista becomes available for purchase on jan 30th. So you could go online, or to the place you got your computer to see if you can get a free upgrade or if your computer came with a free upgrade. If it is not a new comp. Then you will most likely have to pay for an upgrade. not free :(
BTW I have vista and it works faster than XP. It works smoothly and i am impressed. I Love it, and I think it is alot more convenient, aesthetically pleasing, and organized than XP

Who gave you the idea there is free upgrade? The prices are crazy high for Vista I don't think there is a free upgrade. You are only eligible for Windows XP updates when you buy it.

windows vista is a program that will be sent to current customers on january 30th, 2007. however, hardware needs to be vista compatable to work under the new operating system. wireless mice and keybourds have shown the vista compatable logo for a while due to the release. registered microsoft users are supose to recieve the disk in the mail. but like the second answer stated, bugs are always prevelant in the biginning stages of any programs, no matter how long they are scrutanized under beta testing. i will wait a while to here all the horror stories before attempting to switch to vista.
