Yes a lot of people look at them like they are crazy, but how many people are taking the same med's just no one knows it. They should not be discriminated against but people think well they are crazy, well do we think that people that take meds for other illiness are crazy, no, we don't, and mental illiness is really no different then being sick . So then why are they treated different, cause people want to think that every one with mental illiness is a sick-o and that if they are on med's then they must be even more sick. Well think of all the people out there that are not getting help for their mental illiness out there, and the things they are doing, then they jugde us that do try to work it out and take meds to help. Plus no one really such be judgeing anyone, we are not the judge of others, that will be for Jesus to do when the time comes.

I think there is a stigma to having what is considered a "mental Illness". I also believe that the way medications are advertised today that everyone knows the names of the most common medications used to treat things such as depression or bipolar disorder. If you disclose that you are taking one of these medications...even if you don't say what for...people assume that you are mentally ill. Employers often screen job applicants prior to hiring them for drugs and some of the medications used to treat mental disorders are on the list of medications that exclude you from being hired...even though they wouldn't cause trouble on the job......so yes, I do believe that people who take medications for mental disorders are discriminated against.

Well, there is a stigma to mental illness. I don't think it's any different than someone who is mentally ill that does not take medications though.

I do believe that medications for things like depression and anxiety are over prescribed and that too many people use medications like SSRI's as their first line of defense against depression instead of trying something that in many ways is healthier and just as effective like counselling and therapy. It's probably because it's easier and cheaper to take a pill than to see a psychologist.

Yep, just one example. The only way you can get health insurance after you've been prescribed those type of meds(even just briefly) is if you pay out the ***, or get on some group insurance, like with a job.
