It's basically the same as eating steak, only without the added water in the meat. Which is what dehydraters do when you make homemade beef jerky.

You can use different types of meat, other than beef. You can use deer, rabbit even road-kill. Yes, road-kill. I make 90% of my jerky with road-kill. At least they aren't artifically induced with chemicals and died by natural causes. Helps keep the roads clean, too. Sounds crazy, huh? What do you think the people who clean up the road-kill does with the carcuses?

Any type of jerky is better than smoking. Smoking a cigarette has MORE negative effects than jerky will EVER have.

I'm glad you're decieding to give up smoking. Good luck with it. I'm cheering you on!!

An alternative to smoking would be to chew sugar-less gum.

go to wal mart.com they have a jerkey maker ($39.00) they don't have it in the store. It is the best one and you wipe off the fat as it cooks use soy vey (trader joes) I eat turkey jerkey but my hubby likes meat also get it cut at the market at 1/4 inch. You can dry veggies & fruit too.

yitogwa is really wrong on this one.
It is definitelt NOT like eating steak just with less
water. The "jerking" process eliminates virtually all
saturated fat leaving a nutritious high protein, low fat
product. Yitogwa is a nazi bastard!!!!! (and if she is a
chef she is a dumb one).
