Because a lot of mental illnesses can not be CURED, only managed. I have Bipolar (Manic Depressive) disorder. It'll be a part of me for life. Right now I'm still working on getting my meds straight to keep me fairly stable. I'm doing pretty good, but I still do not feel like my complete self. You just have to remember not to give up & if something isn't working for you, try try again. That's what I've learned. It's no different than having a disease such as cancer, or diabetes, etc...just stick with your treatments & therapy if needed & hope for the best~

Actually, most people are not cured of depression. Electric shock is the only treatment that sometimes cures depression, and nobody knows why. But basically everyone with depression, unless they have received shock treatment (and even some who have) are just managing the illness, not curing it. Don't worry; it's not just you.
If you feel that the treatment you have received so far hasn't worked, then keep trying. New medications come out all the time, and different combinations of treatments might just be the thing for you. I wish you happiness and health.

Now did they say that you would not get over depression, or are you just thinking that cause of all the things that have happen in your life so far. Yes they still have shock treatment, but it is not the way they use to do it, plus they even put you out now. But enough of that. Sometimes you try to hard to get rid of the depression, and thus you keep yourself stressed and that will keep the depression going. Shock treatment don't always help neither, so talk with the doctor before even thinking of saying yes. I do know some that like it, cause it gets rid of it for a while. Well i would have to say that you have stuffed stuff so long that it is going to take a long time to get it out, stuffing is one of the worse things you can do, but we don't know when we are doing it. Even if you can not be cured of it, you can get so you go for very long period of times without it, first of just a day or so, but it will get better and last longer, so don't give up, there is light at the end of the tunnel, even if it does return for a short while later on, at least you will have long periods of having a great time without the depression. Plus they are not always right. I know that list i have checked each one off more then once, and it can get better, but you really need to believe that, so stick with therapy and work hard , cause it is hard work, and try to be as honest and truthful as you can. You will even notice it when you are improving, but you need to get rid of that neg attiudute, and that is hard too, so you have a lot of work ahead of yourself, but i will tell you that it is worth it. So stay with it, and work, even when you move backwards, remember you move forward too, and keep that in mind, just don't give up, it is worth it, i know, i have been there many a times.

It relies upon on the guy, some human beings purely might have some variety of chemical imbalance which would be appeared after with pills, with different human beings they might desire to communicate or psyhotherapy. on the different hand i think that throughout the time of many situations the priority isn't the guy however the stresses of living in a severe technologies, quickly paced society. there have been unquestionably much less psychological issues interior the previous. we've become a society wherein human beings are grew to become into machines to be slotted in and labored till they burn out and then discarded like a rubber johnny.

I'm depressed and I have had a lot of loss as well so I know where u are coming from. I'm locked inside a prison of my mind and its a non-stop depressing mind to be but you cant escape it its horrible. But I'm reading books on positive thinking to beat dpression and they are helping because I'm seeing the reasons behind why I'm feeling what I'm feeling and it helps you actually feel its not your fault. Its difficult to do especially when depressed because u cant concentrate but it does answer a lot of questions and give u ways to change how you feel. Look for books on depression in your librray that are self help. Believe in yourself that you have the power to change things even if you dont just keep telling yourself that and eventually you WILL believe it. Go on try it, you've nothing to lose...

Actually I read that a hospital in New England is having great success with "rebooting" the brain using focused magnetic fields. I should have saved the article as I have seen nothing since. Other studies have shown that most mental health symptoms occur in conjunction with lowered activity in corresponding areas of the brain. So taken together the two studies seem consistent with describing a person with a chronic problem as having lower activity in an area of the brain that needs to be stimulated (or rebooted) in order to return to expected level of activity.

because its a disease just like diabetes or cancer. so many people think that just because you cant see it on an xray means that it doesnt exist. go back to your doctor and ask for medication, if youre already on some but its not helping, have them tweak the doseage
