The best well known show or the best show? Best well known show for kids of all ages right now is Spongebob. Both little kids and teenagers love that show. I personally feel that show has absolutely no redeeming qualities. But it sure is popular.

If you're looking for popular shows that kids watch nowadays that also happen to have some redeeming qualities I have a few suggestions. Jimmy Neutron is good. There is both a boy and a girl character that are academically talented, which I think is a good role model for girls. Thinking through problems is emphasized, and there's a lot of learning about peer interactions. Of course the kids watching tv have no clue they're soaking in all that stuff. That show is on Nickelodeon. Also on Nickelodeon is "All Grown Up." It's the Rugrats grown up and in late elementary school. Danny Phantom and Drake and Josh are pretty good, too. And I've always loved the Wild Thornberrys. All of these have familiar scenarios with parents and children. Unfortunately the kids in all these shows are a bit older than 7, but they're all good shows for learning about family and cooperation and appreciating one another and stuff like that.

On the Disney Channel Lilo and Stitch is a good show for younger kids. It's sophisticated enough that they don't feel like they're watching a little kid show. Again a focus on interactions with others, and leadership abilities, too. Lilo and Stitch are responsible for finding all the escaped aliens and finding appropriate homes for them.

A lot of the Disney programming is actually pretty good for kids. Some of it is too old for a seven year old. That's so Raven is too old for her. They're in middle/high school. And even though I like the Suite Life of Zack and Cody and Hannah Montana you'd really have to watch the shows yourself to see if the positive messages of the show outweigh the possible downside... Both shows make becoming a "tween" look pretty irresistable! But the messages are positive. Hanna Montana has a great relationship with her dad and goes through normal friendship difficulties. And Zack and Cody are still young enough to be always gettting into mischief with a lesson at the end of course.

I hope this helps a bit. I'm not sure what you were looking for but maybe the answer is in here somewhere.

Pokemon. I know Pokemon can make some adults a little uneasy because it's so stupidly cute, but I find it really improves a kid's love and respect for animals which can go a long way, eh. My daughter is a strict vegan, and her appreciation for Pokemon helps reinforce a lot of of the ideals that are important to her. I would totally avoid all that inane potty-humour loaded Nickelodeon and Disney bullcrap.

Anyway, that said, TV sucks. It's cool for kids to have a show they like to watch once in a while, but I find it's better to just not have a TV and to hit up Torrentz.com when I want something to watch. The amount of time it takes to download something makes us less inclined to just watch one-way media on a whim.

I would stick to Disney channel. They have shows starting at 1pm that are for school-aged kids. The little Mermaid has an animated daily show now, Lilo & Stitch, Hannah Montana, Suite Life of Zack & Cody, ETC, and Disney does NOT allow outside advertisements. They only advertise their own shows. You also do not have tot worry about them seeing images of the war over in Iraq.

That's so raven is an excellant choice. The actors and actresses on that show look like normal people, not barbie dolls.

The less TV, the better! Spend more time playing outside, reading, working on projects, learning to play a musical instrument, etc. The purpose of TV is to make you buy stuff you have no earthly reason to need, and it destroys your ability to concentrate.
