i have asked for my card activity to be suspended. Now, these are not my charges and I have no intention of paying them. also it angers me that I had one of the big 3 credit companies moniutoring my account and yet this happenned. I rarely use this card. The charges came form a place quitre distant from me. I have no idea how it occurred unless the credit card company made an error in recording the transactions. The card is AMEX. I know that if they request payment from me and I do not pay that my credir rating will be harmed. I currently have a very high credit rating

So, besides hurting my credit rating, if I have to refure to pay, what else could happen?

Unless you are talking about a huge sum of money, the worst that can happen is hurting your credit rating. If you're talking a large sum of money, AMEX may take you to court.

There will be a big volume of correspondence, there will be collectors' visits, but if you are not to blame, stand your ground, eventually they will give up! (assuming you are not to blame!)
