What do you mean by "believe in jesus?" I am an Atheist and I am open to the possibility he existed. If he did, however, he was nothing more than a man exhibiting signs of classic mental illness. Why would anyone think otherwise? Just curious.

There was once an evil man. Eventually the law caught up with him and he was hanged for his crimes. Now this man had several children, and the courts ruled that since the man was so evil, all his children should also hang so the evil wouldn't be repeated.
This is what the book of Genesis sounds like to me.
There was a man from another family who said I will die instead so this mans family won't have to be hung along with him. So the new man was hung in place of all the evil man's family. Then the law went after the evil man's family anyway.
This is what the New Testament sounds like to me.
There was a good man who promised to show everyone who was willing to follow him how to get through life in a decent way and leave the world better than they found it. Then the man hid himself.
This is what the teachings of the churches sounds like to me.

Jesus Christ may have been an actual person. But before I can believe he is the son of god, I need several things to be proven to me:
1. God exists
2. God has the motivation and ability to reproduce
3. God has the motivation and ability to concieve a child with a human woman
4. God has the motivation and ability to bestow supernatural powers in her mortal offsprind.
5. Jesus displayed his supernatural powers and this was documented in a way that was not embellished or falsified
Since none of these things can be proven, I do not believe Jesus was the son of god. If you can find a flaw in my reasoning, then e-mail me.

There was possibly a real man named Jesus who lived about 2000 years ago but... son of God??? .. perhaps that's a bit of an overstatement. ...and who believes in the God-idea anyhow?
Use your brain, girl.
This man, Jesus, was said to be born by a virgin birth - do you think there may have been some sort of mistake there? ...an untruth on some body's part? Then there is the whole died and risen from the dead thing... Ha ha ha ... Come-on, pull the other leg for a while.
Do I need to go on for you? Can't you get the rest on your own?
It's all just too fantastic and incredible to swallow, isn't it? ...to good to be true... so... that's why.

I'm jewish, and believe that he existed, was a good man, but was not a son of g-d, or part of a trinity.
And i believe others can believe what they want, because it is their own opinion, be it in jesus, g-d, or anything else, and they have a right to, and i respect them for that.

Why I don't believe in Jesus. It's that whole new testament thing that gets me. Why after God had bothered to quote the entire Bible to his scribe and have it sealed as Holy and all that business did he suddenly decide no this isn't right I will gust have to start all over give myself a completely new personality and write another book and scrap the old one. Well maybe I will leave the old one for my chosen people they will go for all that crap. OO

After much research the evidence seems to point in the direction of Jesus being greek myth mingled with Jewish tradition. 'Mark' is written more like a story.
The apostle Paul never writes of an historical Jesus.
Christ life is so similar to ancient Greek pagan religions.
The gospel accounts contradict each other
Christians never can seethat the gospels clearly contradict each other
No other historian ever wrote about Jesus from the time he is supposedly lived.
Christians no matter which one of the 20,000 differing sects quite often when they get any criticisms (hard questions) just push the "SNOOZE BUTTON". I find that christians are the most intolerant bunch of people.

Because I used to believe in him and he, or the idea of him, let me down one too many times. I need a reason to believe, and not once in 20 years have I had one.
