First, Catholic's are Christian.

Second, on the question of the baptism. As long as you have one godparent who is a practicing Catholic (does your brother-in-law fit that?), you may have a non-Catholic Christian be the other godparent (your sister). Just remember, by marrying a catholic, and have a child with a catholic, it means you must raise the child catholic-- the non-catholic godparent must respect this.

This really shouldnt be too difficult if there isn't a bunch of feuding between the two families, and they both are calm about eachothers religious views.

There isn't a baby or child baptized in the bible.
Everyone that was baptized first heard the gospel, believed, repented of their sins then confess Jesus is Christ, then they were immersed in water baptism, this is what the word baptism means, immersion.
Mark 16:16 - He who believes and is baptized will be saved.

Acts 2:38 - Repent and be baptized for the remission of sins.

Acts 22:16 - Be baptized and wash away your sins.

1 Peter 3:21 - Baptism also now saves us.

Babies do not have sin,
Matthew 19:14; 18:3 - The kingdom is for those who are like little children. To enter the kingdom, we must be converted and become like little children. If children are sinners, would this not mean that we must be converted and become like little sinners? Jesus said to let little children come to Him.
Nor can they believe, repent or confess publicly.

Roman Catholics ARE part of the overall Christian Church.

The basic job of a godparent is to make sure the child is raised properly if something should happen to the parents. Your child will not be raised Catholic if something should happen to you. If you are basing your choice for godparent soley on the personal denomination of your in-laws, think again. Is that potential godparent a good person, stable, steady employment, a good parent himself or herself (or the potential to be one), and will that person carry out your wishes for your child if you should die?

There are those who attend church regularly, including those in the mainline Protestant churches, who lead absolutely horrific personal lives and are not good parents or spouses. Don't use a person's denomination or church attendance history as a whitewash when choosing a godparent for your little one.

Having said that, what does choice of denomination for a baptism have to do with choice of godparents? What church do you and your husband attend? Did you talk about which church you want your child to be baptized and raised up in before you got married or at least before you decided to have children?

One baptism suffices to make the child a member of the Church.

If baptized in the Catholic Church, than the Godparents are also required to be Catholic.

You might just as well accept Catholicism for your child. It costs no more to go first class.

For the umpteenth time Catholics are Christians so if you baptize the child in the Catholic Church the child will be baptized Christian as well.

You are a bit confused.
Christian is a general word for anyone who associates themselves with a religion that believes in Jesus as the savior of man.
so.. Baptists, Methodists, Episcopals and yes Catholics ( as well as many other specific religions ) are Christians.

There are alot of Christian religions. But Judaism, Islam, Buddhism etc also have multiple religions or factions grouped within them.

I don't understand your question. to be a Catholic means to be a Christian. What other confession is your family? protestant, adventist, born again, orthodox? because otherwise, I could answer your question by saying that well, by baptizing our children catholic you are baptizing him christian

I don't believe in child baptism. This is for when they get older and know what it is they are being baptized for. I was baptized a catholic and have rebuked that evil religion and became a born again Christian. Take a look at this website about the catholic religion. So many catholics are really deceived. Please don't be offended if you are catholic.
