based on your other questions, I'd guess you're a fellow New Yorker.

You have the choice between going to your local DMV, or dealing directly with the state via the web and mail.

Your local DMV will be operated by your county clerk's office, and may have several branches (especially of your county's population is in the 100,000s or larger), and if you use your local office, a portion of your fees benefit local revenues (rather than just flowing into the state general fund), which can help offset local property taxes (in contrast to our wonderful state gov't, which will just spend like a drunken sailor regardless).

YES - all states have different laws and different places to get your liscence, etc. It is called the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). They have a website - google "DMV" and the name of your state and you can find all the info on their official website.

If you have gotten a DWI, it's not just a matter of going to the DMV though...you will have fines, court appearances, and more fines! It's all about taking your money, so don't drink and drive!!
