My god is the only "true" God. He will destroy all the nonbelieving scum( people that don't think as I do.) That what my book has stated. There will be a gnashing( I love that word) of many small sharp white shiny teeth to all the nonbelievers.

The Dude, you get a thumbs up!

I personally feel that belief in God is irrational, but I am biased by my desire to be practical. As an ex-Christian, I used to think that God existed and even pursued becoming a preacher. During that period of my life I did not see anything irrational with my beliefs. It was only after my bias for truth kicked in that I came to the realization that believing in God was totally irrational. I would probably still believe in God if I did not have such a passion for truth. I think rationality is like beauty; it is in the eye of the beholder. The human mind is plastic; you can easily mold it to accept anything you want. I guess it all depends on how a person wants to mold their mind whether they think their beliefs are rational or not.

Dude,
your lucky to get two of the same answers o this page from so many people. and we are made in his image
God is rational to me cause of the personal relationship I have and what He has done in my life, i.e. the direction he takes me.

I said all that to say this... If there was more than one, do you think we humans would be the only creatures fighting for control. I know if I were god I would say the hell with these little ungratefully brats and give dogs conscious thought and thumbs...at least they are faith-full

It's not. Most people today believe in monotheistic faith, and that's what's "in." So, those who don't believe in monotheism are looked askance. Which is pretty disturbing if you ask me.

I'm a self made polytheist (came to my own beliefs out of life experience and such) and proud pagan. I have come to every belief I have logically and my outlook is still (and forever will be hopefully) ever changing. If that makes me irrational, so be it. At least my beliefs don't condemn anyone.

It is actually less rational. If you have multiple gods – at least you know how they could have been made and where little baby gods come from. With one god, it would have to be like a worm, possessing both male and female sex organs and, to tell you the truth, that’s just a little to creepy for me. No way am I worshipping some worm-god that can make itself pregnant.

I believe that there are many gods. I think one of the gods of today is the Road God, who demands blood, or at least severe maiming for laying tarmack on arable land.

Another god is the Bridge God. If you build a bridge too long over dangerous waters, sometimes, the Bridge God demands a human sacrifice to pay for the audacity of bringing two banks together.

The Fish God doesn't like it much.

Some sound advice: Never pray to the God of Insanity. I mean Never.

How many times did you really love someone in your life? I think the belief in only one god is considered more rational that many others because we are only capable to love only one or few... even thou we can admire others.
Love is something very limited, we can't provide it to everyone.

I think believing in a single god is more irrational than believing in multiple gods actually, ex a monotheistic person ONLY thinks that their god is the right one, a polytheistic person believes in multiple gods, it's easier for the polytheistic person to tolerate other peoples "gods"

I think we all get too hung up in issues like this. If you believe in 1, good for you. If you believe in 20 good for you. If you believe in none, good for. Just don't give me static because I have made a choice.(not to say you are)

Maybe, just maybe the "many faces" people recognize is actually 1 entity. Poor example but different names: Ma, Mom, Mother, Earth unit, what ever. Different identifications, but the same "spirit".

We were talking out of the box, so there it is, don't ping me.

I dont know. If belief in gods also, don't forget belief in goddesses, were rational...my life would be a lot freaking easier, that's for sure.
