Im getting married in June. My father passed away when I was 15 and his best friend has stepped up and been the father figure for my brother and I. So, I asked him to give me away for my wedding and were gonna do the father-daughter dance but I cant find a song for the life of me. I cant find a song that doesnt talk about him being my real dad, doesnt say he was around when i was born, doesnt say anything about him being involved romantically with my mom. Does anybody have any suggestions?? Please help!

Consider all that he has actually DONE. Just because he isn't your biological dad doesn't mean he hasn't shared the same experiences with you that a father shares with his daughter. For a moment, take into consideration ALL of the daughters that haven't had the luxury of having their biological dad, let alone someone to completely step into the role of dad. The father-daughter dance is about just that - father-daughter. It isn't about an involvement with your mom. Rethink the boundaries you've set mentally, and I'm sure you will come up with the perfect solution.
Congratulations on your impending wedding! (I, too, was a June bride!)

How about "What a Wonderful World" by Louie Armstrong?
It's a good song to dance to, but the words don't say anything too specific.
The link is to a page that has the lyrics and plays the song.

I think "There You'll Be" by Faith Hill fits very well. Here are the lyrics:

When I think back on these times/ And the dreams we left behind/ I'll be glad cause I was blessed to get/ To have you in my life,

When I look back on these days/ I look and see your face/ You were right there for me

Bridge: In my dreams I've always seen you soar above the sky/ In my heart there'll always be a place for you/ For all my life,

Chorus: I'll keep a part of you with me/ And everywhere I am there you'll be/ and everywhere I am there you'll be,

Well you showed me how it feels/ To feel the sky within my reach/ And I always will remember all/ The strength you gave to me/ Your love made me make it through/ Ohh I owe so much to you/ You were right there for me.

Bridge & Chorus

Cause I always saw you in my life, my strength/ And I wanna thank you now for all the ways/ You were right there for me, you were right there for me/ Always!!

Bridge & Chorus

I hope this helps!

The traditional song is daddy's little girl- and if you talk to your band in advance- and you have plenty of time- I'm sure they can master changing the words to that song to fit your needs---Instead of daddy- if your father's friend's name is Jack- it could be you're Jackie's little girl-- you get the drift--- talk to the band or get the lyrics and maybe you can figure out the changes- and the parts about when you were young-- he was around-- so you can still leave them in if he was in your life at that time.....Congratulations......

Moonlight Serenade is a classic Glenn Miller slow dance tune, (no words). They could play the first few parts then include the rest of the wedding party so you don't feel to wierd.
Congratulations!

Thats a hard one. Tell him how much you appreciate all that he has done for you and your brother and ask him if he has a song that is special to him that the two of you could dance to. If not sure, maybe the two of you could pick one out together.

Unforgettable (the Natalie Cole Version) or The way you look Tonight by Tony Bennet or you can have the instrumental version of both.

'My wish for you' its a country song. I think it is by Rascal Flatts but I'm not sure. I'm having this song sung at my wedding because of a similar situation. Good Luck and congrats.

what my advice is to just dance with him to a good old dancing song. nobody ever said it had to be specific. plus your getting married to his friend not him so it shouldn't matter.

Pick something you like that has nothing to do with father daughter. Something generic.
