What would the big deal be? Assume Mary of Magdeline was the wife of Jesus. (After all he was a simple carpenter up to his 30's). Assume she bore the child of Jesus. First and foremost, a blood line of Jesus could not be proven with Mary fo Magdeline's DNA. (Her DNA would only prove her relationship to be proven). One would need the DNA of Jesus to prove any "Sacred Bloodline". Furthermore, okay, say we can prove, beyond any question, that the heir of Jesus exists today. What would be the problem? Obviously the Pope may be out of a job and replaced by the heir, but other than that, what's the big deal. Consider too if the heir is a woman, and then compare that to the heir being male.
I'm not a believer in the "code", but I am curious as to the hypothetical repercussions.

A few of you asked how I know it was not based on facts. Well, I know this because Dan Brown said it was not, and Dan Brown wrote the novel on which the movie was based.

Personally, I feel that Jesus is as likely to have Children as we are. Jesus was, after all, HUMAN. Humans are mammals, and they reproduce. Get over it.

I see no reprecussions myself. In fact, before this book and movie came out, I thought it was quite probable that Jesus had married and had a family prior to his ministry and death. He was a good, practicing Jewish man of a good, practicing Jewish family - most men at that time were married by 18. And, since He has always fulfilled the ordinances that are required of all of us (including baptism by immersion - since when do the sinless require the remission of sin?) I can't imagine that something as important as marriage would not be fulfilled. And, given the role Mary of Magdalene played in his life according to the New Testament, it very likely she was his wife and mother of his children. It's not as if his posterity would be more redeemers or something - that was for HIM to accomplish, not his posterity.

I also hate it when people assume she was the woman taken in adultery that was brought before Christ to be stoned and he said 'Let he who has not committed [this] sin be the first to cast a stone at her'. Thanks to Catholic church, this is a much believed lie about her.

Jesus had to be a mortal in order to enter the physical world. Granted, he had an elevated consciousness and was here to deliver a message from God but that does not remove his mortal attributes. I believe he did have a relationship with Mary Magdalene and believed that long before the Da Vinci Code. (Research Edgar Cayce) To me, it is "no big deal." Any "offspring" that resulted in a union between Jesus and Mary Magdalene would have no repercussions whatsoever, since the offspring would not be "chosen" (for a divine purpose) as Jesus was. One has nothing to do with the other.

If Jesus had married and had children, nothing would be wrong with that, he had a right to do so as anyone else has, but if that was the case for instance, as you say there would not be a bloodline but his children that he had would still be living still today because Jesus was perfect and not passing on sin or death, so the first part of his bloodline his immediate children would still be alive today, even though they would have been born over 2,000 years ago. But that is not the case because Jesus was not married for two reasons first is that he came to earth for a different purpose, and not to marry and have children he came to do God's will, and second if he were to marry, it would not be fair on his wife to be with her for such a short time before his death and leave her with his children to fend for herself and the children The Davinci code is just a story that people are taking as serious because of maybe this or maybe that and story-lines. no Jesus was not married nor did he have children he was not on earth for that, and he concentrated on his reason to be on earth! But maybe people want to believe this becuse it would show the Bible to be invalid but the Bible is not invalid!

There are to many assumptions to contend with But....

M/Mag... wife of Jesus; the state of matrimony, is not necessarily sinful but there are to many variables that could be entered into.

Blood line comes to all believers, there is a problem as it would have to different levels of blood Line.

The pope (apparently), was a follower of Jesus as in the apostle Peter, not blood line. Service to Jesus has nothing to do with blood line, God has no Grand children we are all children.

there are to many variables and the Divinci code was only fiction, nothing more and nothing less.

Separate the issues.

Thank you.

The problem would be that every believer in Christ would start screaming and tearing out their hair, their faith shattered. Christ was supposed to be perfect, Christ was not supposed to be "tempted" by the "witches" that women were back then. If the heir was a woman I highly doubt it would matter unless someone was going to manipulate her and marry her only to get into the spotlight. If it was a male. He could rule countries, crush religions and do anything he pleased. Because our society just can't, at least the mob that "makes up" society, handle a female ruler.

Heaven forbid a woman speak her mind.

I realize the movie was fictional, but the idea of a woman being the heir would be wonderful...if I believed in the Christian god, but I don't. I just like the idea of having a woman based religioin to follow, thus why i'm wiccan. or a witch, whatever you prefer. :) blessed be.

Whether it was based on facts or not is irrelevant...can you prove that the opposing arguments are based on facts?

If the heir is female or male.....how will we know for sure and would we believe it anyways??

What if he had an heir? What would happen?
Imagine that... they would probably start a new religion, and everyone would worship them.

But that person would NOT be God!
As CHRISTians, we follow Christ...

Easy. If that portion of the bible is not true, then it leaves the rest open for validity.
