You need to apply for a Brazilian visa at

In reciprocity to consular procedures imposed to Brazilian citizens applying to US visas in Brazil, a maximum of 20 numbers will be given out to people who come to apply personally for a visa. All others in excess of 20 will not be able to apply on that day. We strongly encourage visa applicants to do so by mail, whenever possible.

To pick up a visa in person, the hours are from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

Assuming that you are a U. S. A. citizen, if you already have a tourist passport, contact the Passport Office closest to your location in Boston and apply for a visa to Brazil.
If you do NOT have a passport, go to the nearest Post Office to obtain the form, follow the instructions, get your proper sized photos, and submit it to the address on the form.

It costs about $100 and it takes all day in the consulate if you don't have an appointment. Once you get one, it's good for 5 years from the date of issuance.
Have fun if you make it to Carnival; I went in 2004 and it was outstanding!!! Can't wait to go back...
