Do you feel that they go over board in their mission or that they are just doing their job for the country?
I feel that recruiters have received a bad rap because they are attacked all because they are doing what they have been told to do by their superiors.
Plus, recruiters don't force people to sign on the dotted line or say the oath. People sign up on their own free will and people from the outside see that as the recruiter is out to prey on them, or something to that sort? I think it's wrong and would like your opinion on the matter?

My husband is a recruiter for the Army. He works long hours and many days. He did not choose to be a recruiter. The Army told him that was his next job, so he does what they tell him. The reason people are not signing up right now is NOT because the recruiters tell them lies. SOME recruiters lie; however, the most common question my husband gets asked is "will I be sent over to the war?" THAT is the REAL reason why people are not signing up for the military. I read the answers people are giving to this question, and if they want to blame someone, then they need to pull their head out of their butts and realize the President makes the decisions to send more over.

There are many advantages to being in the military and a lot of parents just don't see it that way. All they see is their kid going to school, graduate from school, get a job and move out or continue on to college. If a kid gets a job and moves out then he/she is on their own with basically NO future. The military is only trying to catch these kids before they make bad choices. Some kids go onto college and then join the military but they go in as an officer.
I do NOT see anything wrong with the military recruiters. There's been several commercials, lately, about the military. These commercials focus on the advantages of the military and how it helps them afterwards. Great commercials! I only wish more kids, and parents, see these ads as a motivational tool for their kid's future.
You are correct; the recruiters do NOT force anyone to sign on the dotted line - that is a decision you have to make for yourself.

I have to be honest and say that most Active Duty recruiters of all branches of service are like car salesmen. You really have to check up on them and keep track of your paperwork.

I have found that the National Guard and in some part the Reserve recruiters to be more honest. They really have to be because they know that you will see them more often and have to work together. AC recruiters are a more "fire and forget" kind of operation.

NG/Reserve recruiters are accessible even after you get back because they are local.

You have to be careful on how you choose your recruiter, its much like choosing a used car. Some are there for the applicant others are there for just the bonuses. I was one of the lucky ones as my recruiter told me everything straight up and point blank, but I have heard of others who had some horrible stories to tell.

They are aggressive in there recruiting but they have to be. You just have to take what they say with a grain of salt. In most cases they wont flat out lie to you but they will stretch the truth in a lot of cases. Just make sure you get whatever promises they give you in writing before you sign up.

I think recruiters will say anything in order to get the lower class to sign away their lives. They promised my husband everything, made military life look like a dream. Were presently living a nightmare. All the promises were lies, were living paycheck to paycheck, and hes miserable in his job that he was promised he'd love and enjoy. Military life is complete bullshit. Recruiters are only out to get your ***!

They are like car salemen, they are selling the military. They will lie and they will stretch the truth so if you don't do your own homework and ask the right questions, you might get in over your head. It is their job and it is your job to make sure that you ask the rightt questions and do your own research and talk to more than one recruiter in more than one branch at different locations.

get a clue. recruiters get a commission. that's right, every full term sign up they get merits a bonus. these people are worse than used car salesmen. i remember mine chased me all over town. don't tell me they don't prey on people. has nothing to do with doing a job for their country. it's cush duty and you can make dam good bucks for military. you get subsidized housing, per diem and you live like a civilian.

lowest form of life in the military, and all they gotta do is meet the quota.

Recruiters blow sunshine up your A**. Sorry to be blunt but thats how most of them are. However, I had a great experience with mine... He was getting out in a few months so he really didn't care either way. He was straightforward with me. That is probably why I didn't join :)

Recruiting itself is just their job. But many have been known to make verbal promises to naive young men that cannot be kept. Others recently have been charged with giving drugs and other illegal activities (though rare).
Fibbing is immoral and overboard.
