Even if there is a God.
It still seems pointless.
When you go to heaven, what happens? Eternal happiness?
Why do we need eternal happiness?

To satisfy our wild, unpredictable human emotions?
WHY?
To be happy?
WHAT IS THE POINT OF BEING HAPPY?

Yes. I struggled forever to find meaning to my life. I know one thing I am living for, and that is to prove I am nothing like my parents. My parents were drug addicts, their behavior went far beyond abuse, at times I honestly questioned if they could show any human emotion at all.

I slipped into clinical depression in my later teens. I felt things no human should ever have to feel. I really think the only thing that stopped me from killing myself was the need deep down inside myself to become a parent and prove I share nothing but name with my parents. I always felt vastly different from my whole family, for my grandfather was pretty twisted as well. I have a lot of love to give, and for some reason, that love I had in me kept me alive, and I will not be able to end my existence without letting it out through my future child.

No way!! I mean there are times when I get bored, you sound about 14 or 15, you don't need to spend money to have a good time! Go to the park, throw a party! I have never thought of life as "pointless" I mean, money doesn't buy happiness. Look up slumber party ideas, that's always fun. I would never want to be rich and famous actually, it sounds like too much work haha. I always call my friends, text them and hang out with them! Good luck and God bless!!!

Sure... I think everyone who is honest with himself has felt a little something that at one point or another; and then, he either has a memorably religious moment or a hefty bowel movement and things begin looking up again.

For the most part, I don't feel any of those kind of self-distructive feelings ... what would be the point? I try to stay in a rational state rather than an emotional one - I find that it's healthier.

If you want a full life... fill it up with the things you want. If you need a point to head for... point out a good one and head there. Its that easy.

Well, before I was a Christian, yes, it did seem pretty pointless.

And in heaven, we're not just going to be happy. It's going to be different than that...
The Bible says that we cannot even imagine what it will be like because it will be so different than what we have now. We won't be bored.
God says that I will like heaven. And since I know Him, and that He keeps His promises, I trust that I will love heaven so much that I'll want to stay there for eternity.

At one point in my life, it did seem to be completely pointless and empty, I tried to kill myself and was stopped by some very loving friends.

These days I find just waking up a plus and having a loving wife and two adorable dogs is like sauce for the goose!!

Yes. Still does, sometimes, at times the only comfort I can find isn't God... I mean... it's all cool, going to the cross to lay down your burdens... but what I need is just a new outlook of life and what I'm living for.
I know that God will always be there for me, funny thing is, it doesn't feel like it. It's just me.
That's why, of all confounding answers, I need God.

It isn't pointless; the point is to pass along your DNA to your children.
