In 2005, a friend of mine came home from a business trip and found her husband violently ill in their home . While in the hospital, he went into a coma and died about 12 hours later. However, just before he died, he regained consciousness, recognized and kissed her, and told her he loved her. Immediately after, he died. She has always treasured that last moment with him.

Oh, I think the best way to die would be in one's sleep. You wouldn't even know you had died and would have been at total peace the entire time - relaxed, in no pain. Definitely the best way to die.

But it is creepy to think about the concept of sleep in general, like ... why in the crap were humans designed to sleep in the first place? We're essentially totally vulnerable when asleep: we can't watch out for ourselves. And the body _has_ to sleep, so there's always this time or times in a person's everyday life when he/she totally loses control of ... life ... while sleeping.

My Grandfather died in his sleep, he was 104, just recently. He died with a smile on his face so go figure.

I had rather die in my sleep. It would be more peaceful. No suffering for you or your family. The family would mourn less if they knew you did not suffer when you died.

I would love to die in my sleep...no pain and passing away peacfully. But then again you don't have a chance to say goodbye to loved ones.

I would rather die when I'm asleep. To just fall asleep, and never wake up, and that be that. Rather than being awake, and facing it, and being terrified.

No, I'd love to die in my sleep, atleast I'd be going in peace. Imagine drowing or being in a fire, how traumatic will dying be in those cases. It be awful.

Everyone knows that the only sure thing in life is death, and everyone will agree that is the type of death they would choose, if they could...no pain, no fear, just doze off to eternal rest...
