Yes.
You have to realize, though, the solution is not getting rid of the computer but giving the teenagers better options.
Most of the peers I know as a teen heavily into using computers were very sheltered by their parents and/or out of shape. Simply put, they feel more productive and powerful with the machines then they do with people and/or do it as rebellion thinking "look, if I am going to be stuck here and singled out without a life at least I can do something creative."
Socializing with the outside world is best accomplished by letting teens take at least some risks: for example I had to/could-only-occasionally sneak out to clubs/house-parties occasionally when I was younger and got known as a "non-party person" so when I did finally get the privilages my reputation was too boring to make anything of it for a good while.
So, the trick is to make the outside world more available and more attractive, not to ban computers from teens, for example.

That definitely depends on the teen. Some teens spend all their time outside, while others spend all their time on a computer. And many have a balance of the two, and i think that is the best way.

yes, totally. like right now for instance, i should be in bed but yet i am here typing away. computer is a horrible thing that will keep you up all night IF you don't know how to control yourself. and people do socialize through the internet too, like on myspace. but then again, socializing through internet and in person are copmletely different.

mac and windows are two different platforms . i really recommend windows cause 80% users in world are using windows OS and as u know microsoft is going to launch windows 7 on oct 22 . and i think all people said u that mac is more safer than windows . im working in symantec our company has both mac and windows products but windows malware is easy to find . any malware on internet can be scanned within 1 day on windows platform and in mac it takes 2-3 days . so i recommend u to use windows . as u said u r just going to use as an entertainment notebook (itunes .etc) so use windows
