I have a family cat who loves to eat and be pet
Recently she had decided to drag the litter box out of the room and spilt it on the rug
This is the first time she had done so, and had similar cases in the past where litter-covered waste had been found out of the litter box
I want to put a stop to this immediately, before the litter spills on the rest of the carpet.

Can anyone suggest why she would do such a thing?
Can anyone also tell me how I can properly train a cat?

Hi there...you may need to try using a rubber mat to place underneath the box to prevent it from easily being relocated or a larger litter box with the mat underneath. It sounds like she likes to play with her sand box and a covered litter box may help minimize the spillage as well as be heavier to move.

Ideally, a litter box should be scooped at least daily as some cats prefer a very clean box. Like humans we don't like to use a toilet that hasn't been flushed...cats can be like this too.

wow! I have never heard of a cat pulling her litter box out of a room and spilling the contents on the floor! The first thing that comes to my mind is if the box was clean? Cats don't like to go potty in very soiled litter boxes. Do you scoop out the poop and soiled part of the litter everyday? Next thing that comes to mind is maybe your cat n longer likes the type of litter clay that's in her box. Perhaps the brand you are using has changed formulas and the litter smells different to your kitty. Finally, it may be a good idea to have kitty checked out at the vets for possible urinary tract infection which makes peeing painful. Cats that have this usually begin to associate the litter tray with pain and thus develop an aversion to it. Other than these 3 things, I can't think of anything else.

I find it difficult to imagine a cat pulling a litter box from one room to another. How is that possible? Are you sure you have an actual litter box and not a piece of cardboard or some other home made device? If you do then that is the reason. Maybe the box you have for her is too small or you aren't putting enough litter in it. Get her a proper litter box, keep an adequate amount of litter in it and keep it clean.

My cat used to be an outdoor cat and is not happy using the same litter even when I clean and scoop it out daily. He uses his paws to scrape up every throw rug within 10 feet to try and get it as close to the litter box as possible to try and cover up the spot where he p--ps. It's funny but tiresome to continually gather up the rugs and return them to their places. She sounds like a very clean cat that is trying to get you to clean up after each episode.
She may be trying to clean up her litter box by removing it. By the way, do you have any dogs? Sometimes dogs think that the cat's litter box is a source for what they consider kitty cookies. I always keep the cat's litter box away from the dogs.
Another thing, she may not like the kitty litter that you are using.
You might want to train her to use the litter box in the laundry room or a broom closet with a doggy door that is always closed so that she can't drag it out into the house.

Wow, I never heard of a cat bringing her toilet to the public areas of the home. Is she in need of more attention?
I would place the litter box in a linoleum covered room. Fix the door so the box cannot me dragged out.

In our house there is no cat box dragging on, however, I have to secure my dish rag and dish towels with clothes pins or they end up in the living room. I found that if I place bubble wrap on the counter over night she stays away from the rag and towels.

That is odd. Sometimes cats will protest the state of their litter box by doing weird things like that. Maybe your cat wants the box cleaner than it is. One of our cats does her business in the bathroom sink when she doesn't think the litter box it clean enough for her furry little butt. Good luck with this one.

Your girl loves her cat pan spotless doesn't she? I would suggest that you clean her pan (scoop out waste) several times a day if you can. Sounds like she is miss fussy pants and does not like to use an already used cat pan. You may also want to invest in one of those automatic cleaning can pans that rakes the dirty litter out of the pan and into a sealed container after kitty leaves the pan.

I even have had countless cats with countless distinctive personalities. i think of your cat is effective. I even have had my present day cat because of the fact it exchange right into a seven week previous kitten and she or he's terrified of her very own shadow. She additionally has this amazing little stutter whilst she meows. It feels like she is asserting her meow in 2 halves. i be attentive to she hasn't been abused or mistreated in any way, yet a stranger could probably ask your self what happened to make her that way. by using ways, she is 8 years previous. as long as your cat is chuffed and healthful with you, do not trouble on the subject of the previous it ought to have had. be chuffed on the subject of the destiny you're giving it.
