We can never be completely free of sin at this time, but do you think a Christian can try too hard to live a sinless life, or can we never try hard enough? I know many Christians think it's overthetop when some Christians try to avoid little white lies, monitor the movies and music they listen to, and other things most people take for granted. What do you think?

I don't think that we can ever do enough to please our Holy God. The things you named(white lies, watch filthy movies and music) should not be listened or watched by God's people anyway. We are to 'come out from among them' says the Lord. If we as Christians do everything that non believers do, what makes us any different from them. We are to set a standard for all to see. So that just in case we never say a word to onlookers, out lifestyle will speak for us. We are to follow Jesus' example. We are to strive to be as He was when He was here. We cannot dapple in the things of the world and expect to be holy. May God Bless U.

Well, I think you can't live sinless life, ever sin the garden of eden, we have been born into sin, only by the grace of God are we given a chance to be bailed out. I can't never ever sin again, I try to act in a good way, but I am human as are all of us...and human nature is to sin. So perhaps monitoring movies and such pushes it...but I personally steer clear of the exstremely filthy movies...try not to use bad language...and tell the truth as often as I can... maybe that's hard for you to understand, maybe you will say I am a nut...but I always think of the WWJD...What Would Jesus Do...I want Jesus to sit down and watch the movie with me...or to speak the words I speak...or to honestly say what I say. I don't want him to be ashamed of me, but proud of me....
I am sorry I couldn't be of more help
God bless

God gives us all a choice, and if someone rejects Jesus as their Lord and Savior, they have decided they would rather live their own way instead of enjoying the life that Jesus died for us to have. God will not force anyone to believe or receive Jesus, but He has done everything He needed to do for us to have and enjoy eternal life. The love and mercy is displayed through Jesus; who died a terrible death, and spent 3 days and nights in hell to pay the full price for our sin. No one knows the whole bible, and you only need to know that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross for our sin. Once we are born again, God can teach us His word by the Holy Spirit. Read what the bible says in Romans 1:19-20; because this clearly says no one is without excuse; seeing we have God's creation as a perfect witness of the reality of God. Also, everyone is born with an inward desire to know God, but we have an enemy, Satan, who is doing everything possible to make sure we don't know God, or His way of salvation; which is Jesus ( John 14:6 ). The truth is, we don't have the ability or knowledge to question God or His ways; seeing Isaiah 55:8-9 says God's ways and thoughts are far above ours. What you and I cannot know is the heart of the people who go to hell. They are wicked at heart, meaning even though they can see God's handiwork through creation, many believe science over God and become deceived. Those who go to hell have a hardened heart full of unbelief; which God warns us about in Hebrews 3:12-13. Romans 10:8-10 is available for anyone who wants to be born again, and all who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved! See Romans 10:13. The answer to your quesion is this: 2 Peter 3:9 says, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. The final decision is always on an individual basis concerning Jesus; god will not decide for us.

I think their focus would be on the wrong thing all together. I cannot live a life free of sin, I just can't. Paul said "the good I would do, I do not...the evil I would not do, I do". I am not superior to Paul! The bible tells me to seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness. My focus is more on Jesus and the word of God. That way, His spirit works in me. I sin every single day; if I were upset about it all the time, I'd be useless to anyone. I think it is a good thing to strive to do what would please God and avoid doing what is displeasing to God. But I also think you can worry too much about what you're doing, and take your focus off Jesus, where it should be.

I think you should always try to avoid sinning, and I don't think that avoiding media you don't approve of is over the top. Sometimes though, I think Christians get so wrapped up with being sinless, that they will try to cover up their sins, and then they just look like big old hypocrites when the truth comes out.... which it always does.

As Christians we should be careful what we see and hear. We should not be seeing movies that make a mockery God. We should not be listening to music that defames God. But on the other hand we cannot avoid these things all of the time.
Out focus should be to bring others into the kingdom and not to knock what the unbeliever listens to. We need to show them the love of God.

it's absolutely impossible to live a sinless life! why?
in the first place, a person will never know what is right until he knows what is wrong.
secondly, unless a person lives in a secluded area, with no other humans around and no pesky beasts, he has a small chance of committing sins.
lastly, Christ will never preach about sins if He does not know that we are capable of committing them. Besides, what are 'forgiveness', 'redemption', and 'paradise' for if not for sinners.

Its not right to say "its just a little sin, it doesn't matter"......... We are supposed to be transformed and set apart and be consumed by righteousness............ It is a high moral standard but we shouldn't use our freedom to go right back to sinning. After-all, many people in their lives have only committed small sins. If Christians were "allowed" to engage in small sins, then what would be the point of redemption?

We are called to be like Jesus. Your so called 'little white lies' are still lies. God laid the Ten Commandments down in black and white.
If there is a law then there's sin. We might not be sinless, but we can try, and I believe God wants us to do our best and still honor him in everything.

sure, some people try so hard to please God, that they fail to help humanity. Look at the crusades or the Spanish Inquisition. Those people involved literally MURDERED others for not believing and accepting their God. If that isn't trying too hard to please God, then I don't know what is. These people ended up committing some of the worst sins imaginable just because they wanted to please their God. The same goes for the 9/11 terrorists. They were trying so hard to please their God, that they completely lost sight of the big picture: MURDER is ALWAYS wrong. In their minds they were not sinning, they were doing God's work. But we obviously see what they do as sin.
