She is now 7 months old, and I don't know why I haven't received her card. With my son I received it when he was like 5 weeks.
I am going to need her SSN to file my taxes right? I also need it for her insurance paperwork, and at dr.'s offices and such. Who do I call??
I live in MO.

You need to contact the Social Security Administration (SSA). There should be a social security office in or nearby the town you live in. It should be listed in the phonebook. Just explain to them your story and they should be able to fix it.

You need to contact the Social Security Department ASAP. Someone may have taken it from your mail. Its not unheard of that identity thefts occur even at her young age. In my area a little boy's identity was stolen and they ran up huge credit card and hospital bills. He was less than a year old. I don't know about the status of his card.

Besides you are going to need her number to file your taxes, to claim her as a dependent.

The Social Security office in the city she was born in. Maybe the paperwork was lost. Yes, you will need her SSN to file your taxes...

No you don't "NEED" her social security to file your taxes...it just makes it easier for the person who processes your taxes...All you have to do is note the number has been applied for, sometimes the processor can have the number traced based on the last name date and city of birth.

Join the club. The gov is notorious for not delivering SSNs on time or losing them. You may have to go to the Social Security office again to reapply.

You better be heading to the social security office. They can give you the ssn# there on the day you go but your going to have to ask.
