yes, the Springfield XD is a very good pistol. They were designed along the same lines as the Glock. First and foremost, they were developed for the military/police market. Orignally, they were introduced to the United States as the HS2000 back in 2000. It's a Croation pistol, just as Glock is an Austrian pistol. They function just about the same and are capable of similar levels of accuracy and dependability. I've heard the XD may have an edge due to a different setup for the slide rails that are supposedly more durable. I'm not sure, since I own neither a Glock nor a Springfield.

But if I were choosing, I'd go with the Springfield due to the fact that you can get it in Stainless Steel for about the same price of the Glock's "You can have any color you want so long as it's black" options. Both are good pistols however.

They are good pistols, but I would not take one over the Glock. This is merely a personal preference- I don't like the feel of the XD in my hand as much. I like the earlier reference to Toyota vs. Honda- very true!

Unless you are specifically looking for a striker-fired design aka safe action, I would consider an H&K USP. Even more reliable and stout than the Glock or XD, although not as accurate unless you get the USP SOCOM or Tactical in .45...

I would prefer neither because I just don't like the two-piece safe-action trigger system for the shooting that I do. I do not get out on a weekly basis to practice and nothing is nicer than a simple single-action pull on a gun. I really wish that Glock would have had a safety mounted on the frame like the CZ-75 or Taurus PT-92. I do like the striker concept, however. The thing about the XD that I do not like is that the manufacturer does not have a US base and you have to rely soley on the importer (SAI) for service. With Glock you have the Smyrna facility at least.

properly i like rugers so SR9 could be my selection. between a Glock 19 and the SR9 could be slightly harder as i'm not likely partial to the whole length glocks as a do not purely like the grip and set off. My popular striker fired pistols my P99 AS very intense-high quality set off and seems better than the Glock. Out of the three i could get the glock for the countless mags obtainable yet i could get the nineteen. Out of striker fired pistols i could have a Walther

I honestly think there is very little to choose from here. If it were me, I'd pick the XD just because they cost a bit less. Also with the XD you can order some factory custom word one as a package for a really good price compared to what you would normally pay to a gunsmith to do the same work.

Good luck.

The Glock I had I sold it, It is the only sidearm I'm not sorry I've gotten rid of. I hated my Glock.

I use my XD 9 as BUG and I trust my life with it.

Yes and Maybe. They are possibly better than Glocks, but you will hear a lot of opinions both ways.

It's kinda a Toyota/Honda argument, known previously as the Ford/Chevy argument.
