Because on another question, someone said that most people are atheists because they think it's cool.

I'm not an atheist because I think it's cool. I'm an atheist because I can think for myself and do not need some really old book to tell me how to live my life.
Actually I wouldn't think it is cool because for many of us Y!A is the only place we can be truthful about who we really are. My friends and siblings know I'm an atheist, but not my co-workers and especially not my parents.

It's not necessarily "cool" to be an atheist, but it is a choice one has to make. They who weren't raised as an atheist would encourage you to choose some other religious affiliation but that initially is up to you. Atheism a confining religious affiliation and it shuts off an aspect of society. However, if that's how you wish to live, then okay. I'll wish you all the best.

It's only cool to other atheist and wanna be cool people. It takes a lot more than being atheist to be cool. Of course to be really cool you have to be yourself.

Who ever said "most people are atheists because they think it's cool." is a F*#King moron. I don't believe in god/gods, But I Live my life that way because of alot of unanswered questions and my own research and life experiences.

I think most people are atheists because they believe in what they think is right, so they give off a air of knowing everything, which I guess amounts to being cool

Yeah, I think that's kinda the public perception. I am an Atheist, but I still roll my eyes and feel incredibly exasperated when I see thirteen-year-olds on sites like this going "OMG CHRISTIANS R SO STUPID" nonstop. It's become a bit of a fad in some circles.

Atheism is a choice that people make when they feel that there is no higher power then the human imagination :)
It is not a choice to be made just because you want to 'seem' cool, and there is no reason to do that when you can lose your job/ friends/ family over this decision :(

I've never considered it. I just became atheist because I can't fool myself into believing in a god. in fact, it's kinda lame considering that a poll said we're the least trusted of all groups (after homosexuals and muslims).

No who ever believes they would come back as something is silly. Take one guy I met for example. He said he thinks he would come back as a tree because trees are beautiful. I told him, "Why would you want to come back as something like that? Don't you know where paper comes from? Trees. Someday, a man with an ax is going to come and chop you down, and take you to a factory where they will use that paper to make books. And that book will be the Bible." He really had something to think about then.

You should never base your beliefs on whether they are cool or not. But other than that i really don't know whether being an aethiest is cool or not, i personally don't care what people believe in, as long as they don't push their beliefs on me.
