First, look and around and try and understand the people. Bush could have inlisted the help of Iraqi Nationals by giving him a view of how Iraqi's would react to an American attack. If he would have been willing to listen, the Iraqi would tell him that it was suicide to attack Iraq or another major Country in the Middle East because the people hate invaders and are afraid of American's but would fight to the death.
When I was in the Service 62-66, I spend 18 months in Okinawa, Japan. I worked directly with the people. I learned to admire them for what they knew and for the kind of people they were. They were different, but they were no less human being. In comparison, they were stronger, they were smarter, they were smaller but more powerful both in body and basic knowledge including survival knowledge and they were different.
When I went to South East Asia, I took one look at the people and knew that the American eye would not see these people the way they actually were. To the inexperienced American, these folks looked weak, dressed like scarecrows, dumb, slow and uneducated. However, the truth was very different. In fact these people were one hundred percent tougher than Americans and very will adapted to their environment.
In Battle they were willing to die for the nation in mass if necessary. They worked together exceptionally well. And they proved that they were a match for all of our technological advantages. They turned our strength around and fought us like we never conceived.
We have to start over, and ask lots of questions. If that would have happened, we would not be in this war because the Iraqi people are tough and capable enemies. We insult them with our ignorance about them. It has been and will be a terrible mistake.
I am afraid the attack of Iraq will not stop at Iraq, but will continue to Iran and we will multiple our losses before we come to our senses and leave for home. It is nothing but sad. I hope we learn soon, because it will get worse if we don't.

There are a number of things....

First, we need the 21,000 troops and open up our rules of engagement.

Second, we need NOT inform the Iraqi government prior to conducting an operations in a Shiite area. They only inform them we're coming.

Third, give us full permission to enter mosques without going through the government first. They only inform them to get the weapons out before we get there.

Fourth, allow the Coalition Forces full authority to place, move and establish Iraqi Police checkpoints. Right now, they are being used by the Shiite government to choke the Sunnis out.

Last, the Government of Iraq MUST be an honest broker and represent ALL IRAQIS and not just the Shiites.

That would make this better and much more effective.

The big boom.( I am, by the way, going to be serious. Peace with these radicals comes only by the sword, gun, or bomb. Only the dreamers believe there is another more peaceful way.) If not that, then change our policy for terms of engagement to be so terrifying that the radicals just know that the Americans are going to nuke any city they are in. That they are so afraid of losing their lives in shame that they sue for peace. The good ol' American way of diplomacy just is not going to work with these people. To use an illustration, if they come at us with 5 pound clubs, and there are 20 of them, then we need to meet them with 15 pound clubs and 2000 of us. They understand force, they have no use for diplomacy. They have no clue as to what honor is and being "fair". To them, fair is what it takes to win. They whine about our not obeying the Geneva convention, but they do not, and will not recognize it much less apply the tenants of it in any way, or for any reason. Treachery is their norm. Treachery to them is the best thing that was ever thought of. If anything gives them the upper hand in any conflict, trust me, they'll use it. A scorpion is a more diplomatic enemy that the radical Islamics. The best thing that the world can do is to make the radicals public enemy #1 and seek to and completely exterminate them.

Sadam Hussein exchange right into a bad citizen of the planet. the entire rationalization for the conflict exchange into to do away with him from potential. He waged a decade-long conflict against Iran, gassed/killed hundreds of his very own human beings, invaded neighboring Kuwait, looted that country, murdered Kuwait voters, lobbed scud missiles into non-participant Israel in the process the 1st Gulf conflict, and torched oil rigs into the poor ecological disaster for the period of his retreat returned to Bagdad. i'm unable to think of *why* the UN authorised him to stay in workplace after the 1st Gulf conflict. The Iraqui voters had no thank you to do away with him from potential... the elections there have been an absolute humorous tale and any opposition to him met the purely spectacular penalty. i'm not partial to what's happening in Iraq as we communicate, yet removing Sadam Hussein exchange into the properly suited element to do. i'm specific that the US troops could bypass away if the voters of Iraq stopped blowing one yet another up and stop attacking US troops. yet perhaps it is greater handy for Islamic militants to salary conflict on the US by using employing those methods to maintain US troops interior common selection? those are actually not chuffed days.

You can't really make a war "better." To answer your question; 1)the Iraqis need to get off of their collective asses and get a competent government in place, and 2) we as Americans will have to wait until 2008 when Bush leaves office.

depends on who you want to improve it for.
The war in Iraq has been a huge success for the Bush admin.

Establishment of long term fortified US bases - complete
Destruction of Iraqi infrastructure - complete
Provoked civil war - complete
Puppet government installed to sell out their oil - complete

dont believe Bush et al. when they seem concerned with current events in Iraq, they are playing to a carefully constructed gameplan.

We should have left those people alone. That is a hard question. We have gone in and turned that country upside down.

We need to pull out and let them work things out.
