Scientology is not a new religion. It does not propound any new thing with regard to man's relationship with the God or the meaning of the Universe and its relationship with man like issues. It talks of fictitious Xenu as a deity and all that as it is written by a fiction teller Mr. L.Ron Hubbard in the early 1950s who wanted to make name as a founder of a new religion. Out of curiosity there have been followers in the USA, but many shun it as a cult rather than a religion. Precisely, it is a cult which also believes in violence and applies it to its opponents.

Scientology's chief stated inventor was former science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. Its existence is somewhat of a paradox according to some, because while its memberships claim it is not a religion and can thus be compatible with any existing belief system, they have tax exempt church status in the United States and other countries. The primary belief of Scientology is that human bodies are affected by negative influences from previous existences, referred to as "thetans", which cause suffering and physical/psychological phenomena, and must be exorcised with treatment at scientology centers, which runs up thousands of dollars in cost.

L Ron Hubbard, a science fiction writer, came up with this "religion".

MAny call it the Hollywood Religion, as many actors are scientologists (like Tom Cruise and John Travolta) and it seems to fit in with the hectic lifestyle of actors

New??? Well, I heard about it when I was a kid, and I am now 54 years old. I remember scientologists would put rattle snakes in mailboxes of people who wanted to leave the religion. Don't think I want any part of that.

For some reason, several celebrities are endorsing it which has caused a recent surge in members.

I still have yet to understand why people think just because a celebrity endorses something that it must be the intelligent thing to do.
