I am a sophomore and currently live on a USMC Base, Okinawa, Japan. I am moving to Nebraska in the Summer. I run a 16:33 -5K and a 4:58 -1600. Can anyone give me any Ideas on how I will measure up with the runners there?

Also, Can anyone tell me how my times will change moving from a sub-tropic Island to a cold-weather Climate?

Thanks in Advance!

There is a website that you can check out for running results of high school runners listed below. It doesn't have Nebraska as a separate site, but maybe you can check out some of the linked sites for other states. I use the PA site a lot. Check the upper left hand corner to go to other state sites from here.

You should be able to run faster in the cooler climate because you will be able to get more oxygen and less humidity as you breathe. I know from running in the hottest part of the summer that I can't run as fast as I do on a cool day in the fall. Humidity makes me feel like I can't breathe, and I end up slowing down.

Your times are very good for a sophmore. If you were in PA you would do well in most XC meets, and place high in districts. The top runners in PA were actually at about 15:00 for the state championships. In the mile, you also are doing well for a soph. I think the top runner at states last year ran about 4:10 however.

You have talent, and if you work hard, you will keep improving!

ps. I can't tell exactly if you are male or female from your name and picture. If you are female, those times are super!

As long as you do your summer training, you'll handle the cold just fine. I've ran in XC meets ranging in temps from 80s to 10s, it doesn't really make that much difference once you toe the line.

You can also check dyestat.com to see if they have any postings on nebraska. You can also probably google the state championships pretty easy, but without knowing anything about the courses difficulty level, that will only give you a ballpark number.

Your times sound good. As long as you train, i think you'll be very successful in the next couple years.

you will might desire to purchase the jacket. oftentimes faculties purely supply you the letter. and specific, pass united states is a varsity interest. so assuming you participate and meet each and all of the group standards (i.e., prepare, run in activities, cheer on others, and so on.) you may get a varsity letter. I say group standards, because of the fact in my severe college a minimum of, freshman does not get a varsity letter their first 3 hundred and sixty 5 days except met a definite standards. i won't be in a position to keep in mind what that variety into in spite of the undeniable fact that.
