My fiance and I are registered at www.thehoneymoon.com and it has been the greatest experience ever. We have been together for over two years and living together for most of it. Every Christmas and Birthday since we have been together people have purchased us the coffee pot, the nice silverware, and so on and so on. People have ran out of stuff to give us and frankly if I don't have silver tea set by now it is because we don't need one. My parents and his parents brought up the honeymoon registry idea because they thought it would be a good fit. People are becoming more tech savy and the number of couples living together before they get married is growing everyday, so why get another coffee pot when the one you have is nice already? You are just going to take the coffee pot back and get cash or a gift card in exchange. Cut out the middle man! Remember the wedding registry is a new thing anyway, maybe 30 to 40 years old, people use to get you anything they wanted for you that they thought a newly married couple would need.
Viva the registry revolution!

I looked into it, and to be honest with you, I opted not to do it. We are going to Hawaii, instead of staying in a hotel, we looked into a condo for a week. We got a great deal on it. The reason I didn't do it was because they keep a percentage for you to do it. Anytime a person buys something, like maybe a dinner for you too, well they take a percentage from it. Many guests find it offensive because you are asking for money for your honeymoon. The honeymoon I personally think is a 'wedding' gift to each other. I am sure at your wedding, many will give you cards with money as a gift. We are also doing a 'honeymoon dance' which many people call it the 'money dance' the money we get from that will be spending money for our honeymoon.
Good Luck and Congrats!!

Don't do it. It is really bad manners to register for a honeymoon.
Also they are a rip off for you and your guests-- they take a big percentage off of the gifts given.
It is bad manners to register for a honeymoon, or to register for money in ANY form, or to register for gift certificates or gift cards.
You need to register for tangible OBJECTS that you will use together in the marriage. OR, if you don't want to do that, you can skip registering altogether.
It's important to follow gift registry etiquette. You don't want to be remembered as a rude bride and groom. People will talk about you for years, sometimes generations.

I haven't registered but I thought the honeymoon registry was a great idea. You can opt. for the actual room, etc. to be paid or opt. for items. The resort I was thinking about has spa treatments, dinners, etc. that can be bought. If you decide not to then you can always just vouch for monetary gifts for the wedding. Either way you can get some type of help financially for the honeymoon.

I've heard of it and I think it's very tacky!
Never put registry info in a wedding invitation. It's begging for gifts. If you can't afford to go on your honeymoon with your own money, then you shouldn't go.

I've heard of it, but it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I've never heard a good comment about people who do it either. Personally, I wouldn't contribute. Just use the monetary gifts people give you towards your honeymoon.
