Utter nonsense 5 hours!

Take liver transplantation. In the old days it was a case of a few hours maximum, but now, since the development of wisconsin fluid, the lead surgeons can have a full nights sleep and perform the operation fully refreshed the next day. A liver can be viable for approaching a 24 hour period, although the longer it is out of the body, the greater the risks of it not working.

ONLY A FEW HOURS.

IT'S IMPERATIVE TO GET GOING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF THE ORGANS ARE INDEED TO BE TRANSPLANTED. AFTER SO LONG THEY ARE NO LONGER VIABLE WHICH IS WHY DOCTORS TRY TO GET FAMILY MEMBERS CONSENT AS SOON AS THEY PRONOUNCE THEIR LOVED ONE DEAD. IT MAY SEEM CRUEL TO ASK FOR THE PATIENTS ORGANS IN THE SAME BREATH AS THEY WERE PRONOUNCE DECEASED, BUT THERE IS REALLY VERY LITTLE TIME. THEY CAN ONLY BE ON THE MACHINES SO LONG BEFORE THEY START TO DETERIORATE.
