Theres this girl I wanna date, shes really hot and smart, but shes shy. I dont know how to build a friendship with someone who doesnt talk, i like to build friendships before i date too.

talking about something you both have in common is a good way to open a shy person up. The hard part is finding out what she's interested in. May take some research either asking her or her friends what she's interested in. If you ask her you risk being getting a shy responce like IDK anything ... ect ... ect... and asking her friends will result in her probably getting the word of your interest before you can even approach her.... could work for the good or bad making her more shy and nervous.

I think it is great that you like to build a friendship first. Maybe you can start really paying attention to her, and see what she likes. Maybe simple conversations can start like whether or not she saw a new movie out that you have seen or if she likes the same music you do. Take it slow with her and maybe she will open up.

She must talk about something, otherwise how would you know that she's smart? Shy people will talk if they have something to say. Forget the silly flirtatious small talk, and ask her about something she's really interested in - something that she knows about. If you have some common interest, that would be a good thing to start with.

Take her out on any lil thing she likes whether it childish or not. SOmething fun that she will remmeber. Talk about whatever see where it goes from there, small talk it has to begin somewhere. Hope you get to see what kinda girl she is. Good luck dude

just start off simple. ask her what she thinks of a class (assuming you're in school) or something else you both have in common. she'll probably become more comfortable with you and will hopefully open up to you.
and i completely agree about being friends before you date. i think it's the best way to go.

Don't talk, just go somewhere like park or library and read books together (because she's smart I'm assuming she loves books) and then talk about the books.

maybe the more you talk to her, the less shy she'll be with you.. oh, and dont just tell her shes hot... tell her anything but that, especially if she's smart... if she looks nice, tell her that.. but ask her what she thinks about things....

Do this old fashsion thing...write her a note..a short letter..email..tell her you think she's cool and would like to get to know her better...ask her fav things. ease in slowly.
