Crap, i just reread my post, and the way i put it i think people assume i mean if satanists worship satan theyre ignorant. I meant if people THINK Satanists worship Satan then they themselves are ignorant. Crap.

Yes, there are people here who honestly believe LaVeyan Satanists worship the Christian devil. I am not among them.

My goodness, I sware this site provides more disinformation than anything. Satanists do NOT worship the christian Satan, in fact the only god Satanists are given to worship is _themselves_. Satanism is a belief that centers around critical self-analysis in order to remove from oneself that seen as weak by the practitioner. True Satanists are perfectionists in the extreme. This is by no means a complete description of their ideology, and I should probably mention that I myself am not a Satanist, though I know two individuals who are, and they are excellent people at that.

I posted recently about LeVeyan Satanism. Christians see "Satan" and instantly assume people are talking about the guy with horns and red pyjamas. From my understanding, Satan is a symbol of self-gratification.
edit: My copy of The Satanic Bible and The Satanic Rituals have just arrived from Amazon. Now I can find out for myself!

Satan is the devil's name.
If you are a communist, you are for communism. A capitolist- capitolism. Ergo, Satanist is a follower of Satan.
If you had said a "dogist" is into dogs, people would buy that.
Which is nowhere near the same as saying Dogma is about Dogs. Just because they have the same root word doesn't make them have the same meaning in the English language.

Satanism isn't about worshipping Satan, they just wanted a name that sounded like it is so that they could get offended when people not-unreasonably assume it.

It's easy for you to call others ignorant when you don't understand their beliefs.
Their belief: If Satan is the cause of wrath and "bad things" that tend to happen in life, then why not keep 'him' happy and give offerings to 'him'?

Ok I am ignorant.Saying a Satinist does not worship Satan would be like saying a Christian doesnt worship Christ.
