I don't think they do. I particularly like the way they say "it's only a theory". Please, people, before you use that argument, look up the scientific definitions for "theory" and "hypothesis".

Yes, the primitive people that wrote the bible knew very little about the world in which they lived. They believed that the Earth was the center of everything, that the sky was a dome over the flat earth and the stars were just little holes in the dome through which the bright light of heaven shone. And they believed the primitive creation stories about Adam and Eve and everything being created in seven days. We can't really blame these people for believing this stuff; they were primitive people, it was all they knew. The amazing thing is that there are still people around today, as we enter the 21st century with the extraordinary advances that have been made in astronomy, anthropology, geology, and biology, who still profess to believe these primitive creation stories as if they are literally true.
You're right. Evolution exists, and it isn't going to go away, no matter how much these fervent proponents of primitive fairy tales try to discredit it. This is why they're getting desperate, I think, posting questions here asking about the "religion of evolution". What else can they do? They can't argue the facts, so they have to resort to silly word games like "religion of evolution".
And I see that one guy who said that the Earth going around the Sun is a fact, not a theory. Well, that's true today. But it wasn't always true. In Galileo's time, it was only a theory and Galileo was excommunicated from the church for advancing it. The Christian Church has a long history of opposing scientific advancement.

Yes, Creationists realize the theory of Evolution is not going away. That's simple logic.
As for the Bible, it does not contradict that the earth revolves around the sun. Did you mean to say that the Koran says the world was flat? Oh, the Bible even mentions Orion in the Old Testament. Oh, in the book of Job a large Behemoth is described, with a "Tail like a Cedar tree". Tell me, what living animal on earth right now has a tail the size of a Cedar tree? Nothing, because it was a Bronto- or Brachiosaurus he was describing (and Job is the oldest work of the Old Testament, by the way).

What always get my goat is that they'll focus on one area where they perceive a weakness in scientific reasoning and then attack that. Then they go and say 'by extension, ALL of evolution must be bogus'. Of course, the 'perceived weakness' is usually not there; it is merely ignorance on their part or outdated information.
This, I think, stems from a core problem with religion: either the bible is the word of god, perfect and unchangable, or it is just a book written by a bunch of flea-bitten madmen with some rather weird ideas on slavery and other fun subjects. There is no middle road there. Either it is all true, or it's all bogus.
It just doesn't occur to them that science doesn't work that way.

The cretins - oops, creationists - are in a phase of argument similar to the earliest racists in the US, the pro-slavery types who didn't even want to admit that blacks were intelligent or human.
Just as, gradually, the racists had to concede that blacks were human and eventually were forced by facts to recognize it (while they still resented their presence), so it with the godbots. Currently, they expect to forcibly keep evolution out of schools with non-arguments, then will be forced to respect that evolution has its place, and will finally have to accept that evolution's arguments are the only valid ones, even if they don't like the conclusions.

Forgive me, yet this could be a poor question. do you be attentive to what a straw guy is? You furnish no examples in any admire. I even have study Behe’s artwork and assorted others and that i see no straw adult males of evolutionary concept. on the different hand, i will furnish you an outright undertaking right here and now. I even have yet to verify a single evolutionist on Yahoo or everywhere else get even close to to what creation concept is. do you be attentive to what it is? It’s common to knock down once you’re thoroughly blind to the undertaking. i think you be attentive to little of what evolution is the two, or you’d provide some examples.

well i don't know why it is titled a theory its more like a conjecture. and besides it is a Christians duty to argue against that sort of thing. Christians believe in an absolute truth, or at least should. Postmodern viewpoint doesn't make this issue go away

The earth revolving around the sun is a fact, not a theory. Evolution is a theory, not a fact. Democracy is a theory, and a fact.

Creationists just need to put off the truth for their lifetimes. Since the control they have over the helpless masses is based only "literal" reading of the Bible, they just need to preserve the cash cow while they milk it. They can leave their successors to mop up after their lies.

Do people who believe in evolution realize that arguing the " truth of God" doesn't make Him go away? God is TRUTH, not theory.
