No - they will turn black on you majorly quick if you put them in there! You should hang them on a banana rack.
"The browning (rippening at room temperature) or the blackening (in the refrigerator) of the banana skin is caused by damage to the cells in the skin, itself. It doesn't affect the flesh inside, though. I can remember putting older, very ripe bananas in the refrigerator, on purpose, even though they would turn black on the outside, because I knew the inside would still be OK, especially for making banana bread.
The bananas are grown in (and like) warm or hot climates. So they are 'used' to that. The cold temperature in the refrigerator damages the cell membranes in the skin and chemicals are released from the cells (phenolic amines, such as dopamine). The oxygen in the air then can attack these amines...the end products are what cause the color changes. The inside of
the banana may stay OK, because it has been suggested that these colored oxidation by-products actually form a protective barrier to further damage."

Depends on how you like your bannas
Half the world eats bananas raw and sweet, while the other half cooks it as a starchy vegetable. Whichever way you choose to partake of this tropical fruit, careful storage can make bananas all the more enjoyable.
Instructions
STEP 1: Leave bananas in a closed paper bag at room temperature if they are not yet ripe.
STEP 2: Place an apple in the bag to speed ripening. The apple gives off ethylene gas, which causes fruit to ripen.
STEP 3: Once bananas become ripe - that is, yellow in color, speckled with a bit of brown - put them in your refrigerator, preferably at a temperature of about 50F (10C). STEP 4: Store for no more than 2 weeks.
STEP 5: Once cut, sprinkle with citrus juice to stop them from browning too quickly.
Tips & Warnings
Avoid refrigerating unripe bananas, as they will never ripen.
Mash and freeze ripe bananas, in one-cup portions, or freeze whole, peeled bananas in plastic bags, for use in later baking.

They will ripe very slowly in the fridge.

Yep. According to Alton Brown, it lengthens their shelf life. Keep them out of the fridge until they are ripe, then toss them in to slow the ripening process. They will keep in the fridge for about a week.

No, putting a banana in the frig will speed up the ripening process, causing it to brown and get mushy. However if you want to make a good tasty banana bread by all means peel them smash them and put them in overnight.

Don't put bananas in the fridge if they are not ripe or else they will never ripen. Keep them in a closed bag at room temperature if they are not ripe, and put an apple in the bag as well with them - the gases emitted by the apple will cause them to ripen quicker.

place bananas in a paper bag on the counter if you want them to ripe quickly. Add an apple in the bag to speed up the ripening process. Apples give off ethylene gas, which causes fruit to ripen.
If you store unripe bananas in the fridge, they will never ripen.
