I am supposed to have a CT scan in the morning of the abdomen. I am a little nervous since I've never had one done. How long is the test usually and what should I expect? Is it painful when the Iodine IV is given?

Yes I had one done early November and again in December. No it isn't painful and it was over in about 20 minutes. It is just the stick of the needle. Good luck!

The exam itself is only about 2-3 minutes. The contrast can cause you to get a warm sensation over your body - it's kind of weird, but it doesn't hurt. It's very easy.
