I woke up today, and it was because i twitched and hit something.
Why do i twitch in my sleep?
It scares my parents. [Im 15.]
My dad will walk by my room, i'll twitch, or, i'll be twisted some odd way, that i cant do, when im awake.
Why is this?

you are totally normal...everyone does it. It's medical term is called a "hypnic jerk", also called a "sleep jerk"

wikpedia actually offers the most simplistic and understandable explanation...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk

as far as your odd positions, that more than likely is related to dreams you are having. Again, typical, and nothing to be concerned about unless you are waking up feeling unrested.

If it is affecting your sleep, then you may want to check with your family dr. about medications...but I really doubt that is necessary.

Some twitching is normal as the brain continues to give and recieve messages even through periods of sleep. Some twitching is due to electrolyte imbalances in the bloodstream. at 15 some twitching would be related to growth spurts. Some twitching is in fact a symptom of nuerological disorders and need to be addressed by a physician. If your looking for info also use tic. Thats another word for what your describing. my young grandson had severe tics and sometimes they just disappear with age and sometimes they need treatment. ask your family doctor if they are a nuisance. good Luck
