We just got a Corian solid surface kitchen countertop installed. Even with the brand new surface, the certain dullness of resin material is evident. Is there any way to treat a solid surface so that it would shine more, much like its granite couterpart?

The usual complaint people have about granite is that it is so shiny that every fingerprint and speck of dust shows up on it so they wish it wasn't shiny. The Corian people brag that they have textured the surface so that it doesn't show prints or dirt as easily.

If you want to fight that get paste wax and a buffer and go over the Corian to get it shiny. I am sure your next Yahoo question will be "how do I get this annoying shine off my Corian."

Corain comes in several finishes, up to a high gloss, but it sounds like you had the most common matte/satin finish. Since the beauty of Corian goes all the way through, you can buff out the surface, using varying grades of grit. ( I would suggest that you have a professional do this, you do not want to take the chance of damaging beyond repair.) Continue process using successively finer grits until desired gloss level is achieved. There are even high gloss sealers/finish that can be applied (be sure to check if they can have food on them). The only problem with the finish, it does wear away and needs to be repeated, depending on usage. Be sure to use nonabrasive cleansers and rags when cleaning

sorry , corian does not shine, it also stains easy with juices like grape and strawberry but at least you can clean it. It is meant to be dull. If you wanted a shine you should have went with granite or Formica or a polished stone, sorry.

Well I just have to say........next time you're thinking of spending lots of money, go for the less expensive and send the extra to me please.
The seam is uneven and quite noticeable on my stained laminate countertop.
Maybe you just need to accessorize the counter area a little more.

Nope...if you wanted granite, you should have bought it in the first place...
