There are seven Gods... the 7th is lazy... that is all to it...

God did not have to rest on the seventh day. He was finished and just sat back and viewed the work of His hands.
If you just created a beautiful drawing, you would not be physically tired, however after completing the drawing, you may sit back, relax and appreciate the beauty of it.
Good question: God Bless You....Peace

God didn't need to rest.

God, through the Bible, is a manual for right living.

God was setting an example and showing to us the benefit of resting after a solid working week. Rest and appreciating your efforts.

It is not a literal question. Humans wrote the Bible. What would a Human mean that "God rested on the Seventh Day?"
It could mean that even eternal life has limits. How's that?

God is god, and can do what he wants, and chose to rest. Think of every little thing on the earth, plus, just the planning part of it, like just the human brain for instance...man, that is tough stuff! lol Good things take time and effort. Also, it is a kind of example for us, some say. We take a day off also, to rest. Sometimes 2.....:)

He is God, He does not have to do anything. He wanted to show us that one day is for the rest.

There is a very good reason. First- whether you believe in god or not, you do need to accept that organized religion is something that was created by man, and not God.

Genesis- where this is written was the backup for the early Judean people, who were enslaved in Egypt for 400 years. Being a slave is no easy life, so figuring out a way to get a day off is more than just a good idea. The Egyptians enjoyed life with their slaves, and wanted to keep them from any kind of organized rebellion, were wise enough to understand the motivational power of religion- so it makes sense to keep them just a little bit happy. So- the Jewish leaders of the time negotiated a day off by saying it was the word of god and part of their religion. The Egyptians, not wanting to piss off the Jewish god (or their handy slaves) allowed them the day off.

Think of it as the first collective bargaining (i.e. union negotiation).

He didn't "need" to rest, He simply did. Are you going to tell God that He can't rest if He wishes to?
